  • Small, Mighty, Quiet - EFFECTIVE!
Style: 15-Amp, Wood Chipper with Bag
This was a great buy for our backyard! Highlights ... - Easy to assemble - Easy to use - Quiet (My toddler napped inside the house while I was chipping branches) - Chips up to the thickness advertised for branches - The plunger is a great add to keep tricky bits in contact with the chipping blades Key Things to Keep in Mind ... - Use the right gauge of power chord! Some reviews mention the unit failing or struggling with power, but when using the right gauge of chord I had no issues. - Be patient ... it's electric! It will get the job done, but don't expect it to do the job at the speed of a gas powered engine. Don't overfeed it and make sure to help guide some branches, so they keep in contact with the chipping blades. - Use eye protection! There are hard rubber barriers to help, but still use eye protection. Overall ... Be ready to have some fun! This was a great addition to my backyard shed of tools to use throughout the year. We used it to chip down thick branches, twigs, and long weeds to add to our compost bins. ... show more

  • It only takes up to 1 3/4 in. Round limbs but does an excellent job
Style: 15-Amp, Wood Chipper with Bag
It's light weight, easy to use, low noise considering your grinding limbs

  • Takes a lickin and keeps on chippin.

This product works great of you use it properly. Straight sticks without side branches work workout any issues. If there are side branches, cut them off as close to the main branch as possible. Sometimes when they get short they will stop feeding until you feed another branch. Any thing attached to the stick (leaves, flowers) will create resistance to the auto feeding of the unit and will require you to push it by hand or with the supplied tool. Make sure you have a heavy duty extension cord that isnt any longer than necessary. The first extension cord i had it hooked to got very hot. Changed to a shorter one and no problem. Occasionally it will overload. Bigger hardwood sticks or too many sticks at one time can cause this. Or having your output blocked because the bag needs dumped. If it overloads and stops, usually you can pull out whatever you're feeding it and reset/restart it and it works fine. Sometimes something will get really jammed, and then you have to rotate the knob that connects the plastic housing to the base for what seems like a million turns to seperate the two. This exposes the blades, which probably have a piece of wood tightly jammed between the blades and the base of the machine. Unplug it and then clear the jam. When it seems to stop feeding or feeding a lot slower, which happened for me after about 6 hours of steady shredding, the blades are probably shot. They are 2 sided, and one side is not used into you swap the edges. Use an allen head wrench to remove the screws and flip them around. That's about it. Enjoy not having to haul loads to the recycle bin! ... show more

  • Does what it needs to, mostly.
Style: 15-Amp, Wood Chipper with Bin
The media could not be loaded. So this thing definitely chips up wood and takes leaves very well....until it doesn't. We were running a very middle of the road pile of branches through (not dry ut not green, not very hard but not mushy) and we got maybe 40% of this pile from our 6' tall, 3' wide shrub when it stopped pulling the branches in and we needed to manually push them. It was noticeably slower, all around bad after only 2 hours of on and off use. We called it a night and returned a few days later hoping to solve the problem and finish the pile. We rotated the blades (there are 2 double sided blades, so when one side gets dull you can rotate) and boom it worked perfectly again. The fact that the blades dulled that fast is a very concerning thing. Replacement blades aren't a wild price, but having to replace the blades for each shrub we do? No way. We are going to have to look into other blades made of a metal that isn't so soft. These blades have so many chips already, I'm worried we would have to replace the blades twice to munch down each of our oleanders. Overall it is fine, does what it needs to, isn't horribly loud (still wear eye and ear protection, your senses are worth a lot), but it will go through blades like crazy. ... show more

  • it does what it was made to do
Style: 15-Amp, Wood Chipper with Bag
Easy to put together less then 15 minutes out in the yard took a pile of brush 4 feet wide 8 feet long 4 to 5 feet high with branches up to 1 1/2 inches wide with out any problem I put several pieces measured at 1 3/4 inches wide through the Power Smart and it did take them but I would not recommend the unit if your trimmings largely run 1 3/4 inches wide or larger time start to finish job was about 5 hours as following recommended length / gauge of wire for the extension cord required moving the brush approximately 20 feet following manufactures recommendations unit performed well. ... show more

  • OK to grind up sticks - anything else, not so much
Style: 15-Amp, Wood Chipper with Bin
If you have sticks and twigs, it'll grind them up. Leaves and yard debris make it very difficult to get the stuff in the small top opening. I returned mine.
