I bought this kettle as a cheaper alternative to other pouring kettles. I feel like there is a touch of wobbly when I check the spout, but there is no leakage, I'm puzzled as to what is moving, if anything. Far as I can tell, that is the only negative. Great idea is the thermometer in the top. The thermometer has a green band at 195F-205F. If you get the water past the temperature you want, well, I got tired of waiting and ran a little cold water over the outside of the kettle. Point is that the heat retention of a pot of hot water in this kettle is great. If you take it off the heat at 203F, and then rinse your paper and weigh your coffee, it will probably still be 200F when you start your bloom and it won't cool much more than that as you do a 2 minute pour. Excellent. It was easy to pour from, very controllable. Once, when I put it on a big burner, I had to use a potholder but generally it just worked to use the rubber handle. I guess I would like it to feel sturdier, thicker, heavier. But, honestly, the purpose of this kettle is to get hot water to whatever you are infusing. As a way of getting hot water to coffee, it works great. The thermometer insures that even though you took it off the burner it still is up to extraction temperature. Obviously it is meant for coffee, the "green zone" is likely to hot for many teas, but I bought it for coffee. I would certainly recommend this to other coffee beginners, since despite drinking it for many years, I am enjoying it more than I ever have before. I just made a cup, using a V60 and "Kick Ass" that is memorable. Rinse paper to preheat and wash away paper taste, discard water. 17:1, so 25 grams fine ground coffee to 75 grams bloom water, stir gently, wait 45 seconds then add water in stages to 425 total. Total coffee wet time 3 minutes. Rich, chocolate, no sourness, no bitterness, but strong full coffee flavor without that nastyness. I am going to try and duplicate that. I did that with this kettle, easily. Brew temperature right between 200F and 198F. And that is the best recommendation I can give this kettle. ... show more

I received this a few days ago and so far I'm very pleased. I got rid of my ancient whistling clunker years ago, and I am delighted at the change. This Wenegg kettle is a beautiful design, lightweight for easy handling, and well made. It has a slender pour over spout and a good gripping handle. The lid has a built-in thermometer that shows when the water is at boiling temperature. I've used it about 6 times already and the water heats in a few minutes. It's easy to pour and easy to clean and dry afterwards. I love having the thermometer so I can get an accurate idea of how hot the water is, which certain pour over coffee makers recommend. It definitely appears to be a high quality product, especially for the price. The lid fits snugly, and because of the materials and the thermometer inside, it will heat up along with the kettle. So when you are done pouring the water out of the gooseneck spout, remove the kettle from the heat and leave the lid on for a while until it cools. Once it's cooled, you can remove the lid to dump out any leftover water inside. (Or otherwise use thick oven mitts.) It comes with an excellent and simple instruction manual. (Even the manual is of high quality -- much more attractive, professional and substantial than most .... not a cheap folded piece of paper with tiny printing that no one can read or understand. All instructions are included. So I'm very happy with my kettle! Does the job, looks stylish, easy to maintain. I only wish I was as happy with my Aeropress coffee maker (that I bought this to accomodate)! P.S. Enclosing photos of the box, the kettle and the kettle lid. ... show more

This kettle has held up very well and performs nicely as I use it pretty exclusively as a coffee pour-over kettle. The ergonomic shape/ design of the pour spout makes it a perfect controlled pour and just the right angle juxtaposed to your filter/ cone. After about 9-10 months of use however, I’ve noticed the pour spout is beginning to rust a bit. The interior of the kettle is fine (no rusting or discoloring); I think it’s due to the spout being so skinny, it’s unable to dry thoroughly. I was very happy to see that this kettle has come back into stock! I had one that I gave away, but when I tried to reorder it was out of stock and so I tried another brand that was completely unsuitable. This kettle is perfect - pristine impervious finish on the metal, pours perfectly, comfortable cool handle, accurate thermometer, and there was never rust on my old one and I don't expect it here (fingers always crossed).
