There was no assembly required other than removing the plastic guard in the clock battery compartment and plugging in the AC cable. I'll be honest, I bought this 3 years ago for working from home in my apartment office. it was absolutely perfect. I usually would eat at my desk, do all my taxes and important paperwork, I did a lot of things that I needed a lamp for. When I packed up to move, it came with me, and then I forgot about it until last night when I wanted a light to eat under. I found it, realized it still worked, and it is bright, easy to move around and control, and fun! as a warning, when cleaning it, I recommend turning it off since it does flicker a lot with the touch sensitivity. I had to return it. It arrived in a box with no padding or plastic around the pieces. It smelt horrible and got worse when I plugged it in. There is no way they couldn’t smell this when packing it. The smell was coming right out of the package when I brought it in my house. The smell was like body odor mixed with an electrical fire (if you know you know). It would stay on for 2 seconds and shut off immediately, then come on again and off again. I probably shouldn’t have plugged it in but made sure it was on a surge protector and GFCI circuit just in case It was delivered and returned within an hour. Went with a different company and had a better experience, though they were slightly more expensive than this one. ... show more

Overall, the lamp was a good purchase. The options in available light brightness is great. The ability to tilt the lamp into different positions is helpful. 3 issues: 1. Readout.. clock is in military time. Not a deal breaker for me as I'm in Healthcare; might be a learning curve for others. 2. Temp.. the factory set is Celsius, and, even with the instructions, have been unable to set to Fahrenheit. Again, not a deal breaker 3. Wireless charger.. this is the for my less than stellar review. Very slow charging. Tried a couple of different phones, with and without cases, and it took a long time to get any change in charge. Caused the phones to get unusually warm.
