This was fine for my 500 square feet of sod. It would be nice if the cutters were slightly flaired larger at the top as the grass plugs are pushed up. As it was, I mostly had to clean the plugs out after each step but since I was only doing 500 square feet, that was ok. New top seeded grass coming in just fine. I'll keep this and use it yearly. Beats renting a large tool that I don't need very often.

My complaint on this unit is the design of corers. I have primarily clay soil and wasn't able to find the happy medium of moisture to have the cores consistently come out of the tool. They would plug after like 1 or 2 stomps regardless of the strength or angle I tried, which on my 1/3 acre lot meant it took forever to complete and I had to split the time over multiple days. I had to keep a flathead in my pocket and clean them out if I wanted to actually pull up cores and not just put holes in the ground. My recommendation is if you have clay, just go rent one of the machine ones from home depot or something. It was too much work to do it manually with this thing, and I'm not an old man. I have rented in the past and it was much much easier and could get it all done in a couple hours with consistent cores pulled up. Otherwise probably a great tool on softer soil. Simple to put together and use.

I just put the hoe together with little issue. Turns out, if you pay attention to the instructions that are included, it goes together nicely. It seems quite sturdy, no rattling at all. I bought this to get the weeds out of the cracks in my driveway. I'll find out tomorrow if it suits my needs. I'll update then. *UPDATE* (7/5/23) I used the hoe for a little bit yesterday (too hot for yard work, as per my neighbor). As far as weeding the garden, it moved the soil around nicely. We put a bird feeder in the garden for our cat's entertainment and now there's some bizarre grass- like weed growing under it. That stuff did not budge. I had to pick it out by hand. I then tried it on the cracks in the driveway. I'll give that a C-. Some of the weeds went willingly, others did not. It might be that I just didn't put the effort in because I was hot? I'll try again this weekend as it'll be 10⁰ cooler.

As an avid gardener, I'm always in search of tools that can improve the health and overall appearance of my lawn. In this quest, the Hermsche Lawn Aerator Coring Tool caught my attention. However, despite the appealing features it boasts, I found the experience to be somewhat lacking, resulting in a rating of three stars. The Hermsche Lawn Aerator's design certainly impresses at first glance. It features a sturdy, easy-to-use structure, and the 3 core with slope top half-open slot design promises deep and efficient aeration for a healthier lawn. In theory, this product aims to provide a superior manual aerating experience without the need for bulky machinery or professional services. However, while using this tool, I quickly found myself encountering an unfortunate snag. The plugs of grass and soil, a necessary byproduct of the aeration process, have a tendency to get stuck in the coring tubes. This means that every minute and a half or so, I found myself needing to stop and manually clean out the tubes with a screwdriver. The constant interruption significantly slowed down the aeration process and detracted from the overall user experience. Despite this setback, the Hermsche Lawn Aerator is still capable of performing its intended job, but the extra maintenance needed can make the process more tedious than one might hope for. This tool may still be a viable option for those willing to overlook this minor inconvenience in favour of manual aeration, but it's worth noting that this hiccup in the design could be a deal-breaker for some. In conclusion, while the Hermsche Lawn Aerator Coring Tool offers the potential for effective lawn aeration, it does come with an annoying glitch that requires persistent attention. Thus, I can only award it three out of five stars, marking it as a product that has room for improvement. Tool was used repeatedly for about 5 months and broke at the base of the handle. I always made sure to water the lawn prior to use but now I don't know how to affect the warrantee. The seller points me to the Amazon assistant. I provided the purchase order # but the assistant states that the order was not found. How do I proceed? Update: I was contacted by Hermsche after this review and they sent a replacement after providing them with the details. Their customer service is 1st rate and deserves a 5 star rating.
