  • Small but mighty
I saw this small portable propane heater, Portable Propane Heater for Camping,9,100BTU Small Outdoor Patio Garage Heater,Self-Ignition,with Foldable Gas Cylinder Holder for Tent Hiking Hunting Ice Fishing and was intrigued since I have a part time job that sometimes puts me out in the elements. It is easy to assemble; the propane bottle base is stable. It fits both the 1lb and the slimmer 14oz bottles. It has a hook so you can carry or hang it. The flow knob doubles as the push in ignigtor. The heater kick on the first push. It is small but puts out a nice amount of heat that will do well for warming your hands or feet. The heater is for outdoor use only so do not use it to heat a tent, RV or small room. It comes well packaged and I am going to keep the box with the foam inserts for when packing it away. Nice instruction booklet with clear instructions. ... show more

  • Great budget heater for hunting blind etc!
This is a great little setup for the price! I know that this is advertised for golf carts, but I ordered it for my deer blind. It comes with a nice little base that has extra flip out “feet” or stabilizers to support the small one pound propane tank and to keep everything from tipping over. The heater itself is very easy to figure out, assemble and use. It was truly a piece of cake. Since hunting season won’t start for another week for me, I tested it out in my home where obviously it wasn’t very cold. It let off a great amount of heat and I have no doubt it will keep my hunting blind warm. I’ll probably only turn it on for 10 minutes every couple of hours to take the edge off. I tend to not get very cold while I’m hunting. It is a little bit loud, you have to make sure to turn it down after you initially light it due to the noise. Overall though, it’s not bad and I’ve definitely owned worse ones. I don’t think this will disturb the deer much. Overall, I think this is a great little set up at a very fair price. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one if I needed more. ... show more

  • Emergency Use
I've had and still have several of these, by this brand and others. They're great if you understand their capabilities and limitations. Not so much, if you don't. I was a full-time tent camper, most of last year, and some of this year. When it first started getting cold, it was a big help. As it got colder, though, it didn't do much but keep me from freezing. I got a bigger heater, and used this kind as backup or help. Sometimes I'd run out of propane on my big heater, or moisture had gotten to it, and it wouldn't ignite. So, I'd have one or more of this kind on standby, and they would save me. They can be a big help when camp showering, or using the outside bathroom, or non-climate controlled ones. You do need to be elevated above it, so it's aimed at you. Be very careful not to let it touch anything. I melted and ruined a few things like that. Had an expensive rain jacket fall on it, and I didn't notice until I smelled it melting. Ruined a whole sleeve. So keep that in mind. Good for warming hands or feet, drying socks, etc. And you have to be careful when turning it off, not to crank it all the way tight, or you may have issues with the knob. As long as you understand those things, it's a great little helper. I just would not depend on it as your main heat source. Now, I had a bigger, 8×8, 4-man tent you could stand up in, so you may have better results with a much smaller, 1 or 2 man tent. But that was my experience in the 8×8. Didn't get the room temp comfortable, but kept it livable, and was great for warming hands, feet, gloves, socks. Calling it 4 stars for those jobs. *Edit: I wanted to add that I was almost always using it on the lowest setting possible, except when I was in a hurry to warm things up, like first climbing into the tent from the fire. The results may be much better if you turn it up higher, but I wanted to make sure it would last through the night. If you have extra propane tanks ready, and aren't worried about using them up too fast, you can run it higher than I did. ... show more

  • Simple addition to camping convenience
As an avid camper I have always wanted to get one of these. The Ruinopar Portable Propane heater is more affordable than the Little Buddy ones. In the end, they are probably very similar. The Ruinopar heater comes very well packaged in molded foam. Instructions are clear, and warn in several places to not use the unit indoors. I connected one of the 1 pound canisters and fired it up - and was amazed at the heat output. This works really well, even with the gas regulated down. The reflector directs the heat forward, so one can point it exactly where needed. I will need to do some testing to get an idea of how much propane this uses. Obviously depends on how much the regulator is opened. The electric ignition works very well. I noticed a bit of a propane smell after turning the unit off, so it needs to be tightened sufficiently, and the tank should be disconnected after use to prevent leaking. All in all I am thrilled and look forward to take this out camping in the coming cooler months! ... show more

  • Puts out a lot of heat!
I ordered this portable propane heater for when we go camping. We love having a fire when we camp in the fall & winter but sometimes, it can be a real hassle to properly extinguish the fire before retiring for the night. This heater really helps out. It's easy to assemble. It was just a matter of turning the stabilizer feet on the base out, twisting the heater unit onto a standard size propane cylinder & then putting the cylinder into the base. It sits very stable and the heater was easy to ignite & adjust. I was quite surprised at how much heat this little thing puts out. The heater has a very small footprint so it's easy to store when it's not in use. Overall, this is an inexpensive, lightweight portable heater that can provide heat pretty much any time we go camping or when my husband goes hunting in the fall. ... show more
