If you have a pool, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST BUY THE POOL RX+!! We moved to the coast in southern GA and bought a house with a large vinyl liner in-ground salt water pool. The previous owners had not lived there for some time and didn’t do anything with the pool’s chemical balance or upkeep. When we went to open the pool, it had mustard algae and a bad case of black algae in it, too. Previously my husband and I have owned pools and have had to deal with algae issues from time to time. This pool’s black algae problem was impossible to get rid of even with an extreme amount of time spent for weeks doing daily brushing, scrubbing spots with chlorine tablets and trying every ridiculously expensive algae treatment the pool stores try and sell to you. Nope, could not get completely rid of it. Finally found the Pool Rx on Amazon…was skeptical but thought I would give it a try, nothing else had worked. Bought the (Black RX PLUS). Our pool is 25K gallons and the plus is an updated formula for larger pools. Totally disgusted with the time already spent trying to get rid of the algae, I only brushed the walls one more time and dropped the cartridge in the pool pump basket. With NO exaggeration, our pool became sooo crystal clear without a trace of any algae inside of three days! We have used it ever since and never have had any type of algae. As advertised, we only have used/bought a new cartridge every six months . When we opened our pool in the spring after not doing anything to it from mid October until late March other than putting its winter cover on, unbelievably our water was clear. Needed to balance the pH and alkalinity and of course shock it, but it looked great! I highly recommend everyone to try this and they will never go without it again. Just to note: I was not given anything nor asked to write this review. This is one product that truly lives up to its claims of effectiveness.

I’ve struggled with algae growth in my pool, needing to brush, shock, and vacuum my pool every 5-6 days. I started using this ball in my skimmer basket and my water has never been so clear. Now I don’t ever need to brush, and only shock once every three weeks. I recommend this product to anyone who has a pool!

I had a very persistent green algae problem in my pool in Sacramento that would appear in my pool within a week no matter how much shock, chlorine or brushing I would use or do. I've had the Poolrx in my skimmer basket for two full months now without a single trace of algae growth on the walls of the pool. I haven't noticed any difference in the color, smell, taste or appearance of my pool water since starting Poolrx. I did let my pool water pH get to around 8.0 at which time it looks like leaves that fell into my pool seemed to react with the chelated copper from the Poolrx unit. I got the pH back down to 7.2 and everything is fine again. This is an excellent product and unless there is a reason to stop using it I will continue to use it. It works amazingly well.

I’ve now purchased this product two years in a row, and I am ecstatic with the results! Honestly, I didn’t fully recognize how powerful it was the first year, but this season I made a point of tracking it, and wow, what a difference. Chemical Savings The amount of money I saved on chemicals was amazing. It easily paid for itself three times over just by the chlorine, shock, and other products I didn’t have to buy. I used about one-quarter of the chlorine I’ve used in past years. One large box of shock lasted the entire season, with some left over. Best of all, I didn’t need clarifier or algaecide once and my pool was the clearest it has ever been. Multiple guests even commented on how crystal-clear the water looked. Tips for New Users Since this is my second season using the product, let me share a few hints. When you first add it, you might notice a little cloudiness even if your pool is balanced. Don’t panic—don’t waste money on clarifier or extra shock. Just give it a couple of days, and like magic, the pool clears up beautifully and stays that way. I learned this the hard way my first season, but this year I let the product do its job, and the water has stayed perfect. Algae-Free Peace of Mind Anyone who’s owned a pool knows the frustration of battling algae. For the past two years, I haven’t had to fight that battle at all—not even a hint of algae. That alone makes this product worth it. And frankly, whoever makes clarifier should worry. I haven’t had to buy any in two seasons! Final Thoughts This product doesn’t replace all pool chemicals, but it drastically reduces how much you need, saving both money and time. More importantly, it eliminates the constant “mad scientist” routine of testing and treating. I can honestly say this product has turned pool ownership from a chore into a joy. If there were six stars, PoolRX would get them. Highly, highly recommended!

This device is a miracle. We have had a lot of rain this year in middle Tennessee. I have dumped more than 50 pounds of chlorine in my pool so far this year and my pool would not clear up. But now it is crystal clear. the pool-Rx has been in my pool now for 12 days and at this time, the chlorine is zero. For some reason it doesn’t seem to need chlorine. My pool is 26500 gallons. I run the filter from 8am to 7pm. I have the water tested regularly at the Pool store. All parameters are good, except the chlorine level is low. I have two neighbors that also use these and get the same results.
