Description

This product is specially designed to chelate complex minerals that naturally occur in some water supplies. Minerals, such as iron or manganese, can cause stains and discolored water. Water that has been pre-treated with this product can avoid problems that can arise from the reaction of iron or manganese with subsequent additions of chlorine or shock treatment. This product is concentrated and ready to use. This product will not interfere with chlorine, algaecides, or stabilizers. Add separately and do not mix with other chemicals. When used regularly, this product will help prevent scale build-up and mineral precipitation caused by other chemical additions. New Pools or Pool Opening: To prevent discoloration of the pool water due to trace amounts of iron, manganese, and other heavy metals, add 11/2 oz. for each 1,000 gallons of pool water. This addition should be made before any other chemicals are added. Recirculate the water, to insure uniform distribution, before proceeding with other chemical additions. Discolored Water: Have your dealer determine if the discoloration is due to iron or manganese. If the water contains less than 1 ppm of these materials, add 11/2 oz. for each 1,000 gallons of pool water. If the water contains greater than 1 ppm add proportionately greater amounts. Test the pH of the water, after addition, and adjust to 7.2-7.6, as necessary. Recirculate the water to insure uniform distribution. Scale Build Up: Scale build-up is due to high levels of calcium and other hardness minerals. Add 3/4 oz. for each 1,000 gallons of pool water and recirculate for at least 6 hours after addition. To prevent a recurrence of scale build-up, add 1-2 oz. for each 5,000 gallons of pool water each week.

  • Just a small amount took the metal out in my spa.
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
Worked great. I pulled the filter after 2 days and it was full of dark precipitate, which was easily removed. Water is now clear and sparkly.

  • Cleared up issue in less than 24 hours!
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
After setting up our pool for the year, we added the appropriate amount of chlorine and shock. Almost instantly, the water turn a muddy brown. After some research, we determined there was metal particles in water. This shipped fast, we added it to our pool, let it circulate overnight. I'm the morning we shut off the pump. The particles settled at the bottom and we were able to vacuum it out in just one treatment! ... show more

  • Almost worked
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
I have iron from well water. This product showed improvement but it’s not all gone. (The green is a reflection of trees) One bottle should treat 10,000 gallons. My pool is an above ground 3,400 gallon. I first added the appropriate amount for my size pool but saw no difference after 24 hours with the pump running nonstop. I then added the rest of the bottle, pump running continuously for the next 32 hours. The pic is the result. A definite improvement (wish I had a before pic) but not crystal clear. I’m at a loss. BTW chlorine was at 0. ... show more

  • Works!
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
My pool was looking rough after I filled it with the well water. The chlorine reacted with the metals and it looked like a big mess of brown. I put this in and the pool cleared up in under two days! The first photo was when I put this product in the pool. The second photo was day one and third photo was day two and final result. ... show more

  • More like "Metal In"
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
From the name you would think this separates the metal from the water, allowing it to be filtered (or so least I did). The reality is the opposite. The chemical redissolves the metal after it has been oxidized (e.g., by shock). But as soon as you bring the chlorine back up, the brown color returns. Super frustrating. It took me 2 years of frustration to realize what is actually going on and now I'm trying out a different solution to actually remove the iron. ... show more

  • Pool Mate Metal Junk
Size: 1-Pack Style: Metal Out
Purchased 2 bottles of this product to remove metallic stains from the bottom of my inground pool. I use well water to keep it full and that water has high mineral and metallic content which, over time, leaves blotchy stains on the pool bottom. I followed instructions to the letter by brininging the chlorine to zero and raising the acidity. Then added the pool mate and ran the pump for 24 hours circulating everything. This Pool Mate product is junk. Does not work at all. Everything done was just a big waste of time. I am so sorry I purchased it. So now trying to return the unopened and unused bottle, and THEY WON'T TAKE RETURNS. That will be the end of any further POOL MATE products for me and I'll be sure to mention this to my neighbors who're having the same pool stain problems. There may be a solution but POOL MATE doesn't have the answers. ... show more
