I've been using this for a few days now and am pleased with the performance. The unit picks up the leaves as well as the sand and very small debris. The included stand does make it much easier to use and store. I would never have ordered one if it cost extra but it is definitely handy. It has not yet been stuck on the steps or ladder so that is a pleasant surprise. The only downside is that it always seems to turn in the same direction which results in quite tangled mess of the cable when it is done. ... show more

The Polaris 8050 immediately made my pool water sparkle. Floor grime and wall grit are removed easily. In 90-minutes, the machine will clean 80% of a large pool. The first time you use the machine, you will notice tracks of clean white once the machine passes. Our pool is very well maintained -- we have a weekly pool cleaning service -- and were amazed by the additional cleanliness after a Polaris 8050 run. Really like our pool cleaner. Seams to get most areas. Does struggle a little with the walls, more effective on the floor. Do not expect it to be the only pool cleaner. You will still need to manually clean yourself on occasion. Works as expected. Very happy :)

Love the cleaner as it picks up debris well and the filter is much better than my old dolphin. Dislike the cord consistently coils around itself and the cleaner gets stuck in top of the deep end cover.

    • Does what it's supposed to do: No promises unkept!
Just want to preface this by saying this is the first review I've written since using cramazon for 20 yrs... Bravo Polaris! Finally a pool cleaner that does what it says it'll do. I replaced my Hayward SharkVac XL, which is supposed to be a better machine than this (according to specs) with the Polaris 8050. Put the caddy together, put it in the water, plugged it in, set it to my pool surface and off it went. IT DIDN'T GET STUCK ON THE DRAINS!!!! It also climbed each step, below water sun deck and ledges without getting stuck. Waterline!! Yep, that too! I know there will be naysayers out there, but I'll never buy a P.O.S. Haward pool cleaner of any model. Hayward...stick to pumps and controllers cause you suck (or don't suck) at pool cleaners... Haywards Sharkvac xl gets stuck 100% of the time on the drains. Got stuck every time it tried the steps. Randomly did this stupid ballerina thing, on the deep end, that twisted the cord constantly. Among other wear and tear items that broke, the motor assembly went out. When I finally found a Haward authorized service center (most pool stores won't touch a hayward pool cleaner for warranty), I was told that the sealed motor assembly was only covered under a two year warranty. That motor assembly cost as much as the Polaris 8050 new. Nope! ... show more

We’ve had this robot vacuum 2-3 weeks and LOVE it so far! So simple and easy to use, and it does an amazing job! We have large cottonwood trees next to our pool in full bloom, and the vacuum helps with them. This is our first robotic pool vacuum, and my only regret is not purchasing sooner.

I had the Polaris 825 for 10 years and it finally crapped out. The repair would have cost $700. Decided to invest in another and stuck with the Polaris name and got this one the 8050. Totally impressed with this unit. Highly recommend this model and brand. Delivered in one day. The 825 use to get stuck on the main drain plate but this one hasn’t yet. ... show more

    • Only stays in the deep end
Unfortunately I should have ordered this way later. My pool install ran late and I didn't open the box until after the 30 day return. The unit appears to be used even though I paid for a new unit. It will only stay on the deep end. Even if I start it on the opposite side it always just goes to the deep end and cleans just one area. It's a 1K paperweight now. It's just easier to clean the pool manually. A 30 day return policy is just ridiculous. I had thought it was a prime order so I thought I had the longer return window. Amazon is no help and calling the manufacturer did nothing to fix the problem. ... show more
