This model was part of the package when we purchased our pool 6 years ago. We have a 25,000 gallon 36x18 ft liner in ground pool. It’s the only pool robot cleaner that I have ever had so I can’t say it’s better than others but here is what I will say. This machine was a work horse. For 6 years if we weren’t using the pool this guy was in there cleaning. It really did a good job for the most part and gave us no problems. If I had to complain about it at all I will say we never really got to use the water line feature because we have a tanning ledge and if it was set on water line cleaning it would crawl into the tanning ledge and the water was too shallow for it there. ... show more

The electrical panel stopped working after just a few months of use. The unit worked great until then but, for the price, there should be better product support/warranty for faulty units. Our previous Polaris that we purchased from a pool supply store lasted 8 long years.

I purchased this unit to replace a Hayward Tiger Shark that had to motor Fail after about a dozen uses, my second one, same problem. The best thing I like about this unit is the ease of removing and cleaning the filter. I can do it on the pool stairs without removing the whole unit from the pool. The cord doesn't get tangled and what it cleans it does well. I also like it can be set to do just the bottom or bottom and side walls. A few things I don't like is the side wall cleaning, no matter what setting I use the unit goes well above the water line and just sits there churning, it doesn't "walk the wall" like my Hayward did. It actually pulled out my liner lock in one section. It seems to miss parts of the pool, and I shut it off and reposition it to get sections it misses. The cart is handy but not balanced, I found out in a hurry to put a weight on the base if there is any wind, it tips over easily. All in all, I like it, the suction is strong and picks up small pieces of dirt to large leaves. It feels well-built and is easy to operate. It is new and I have used it about 5-6 times so far, we will see how it goes. ... show more

2Nd UPDATE! Took unit into Leslie's for repair. Polaris shipped me entirely new unit. Love that! UPDATE! ------ Bought the unit in March and by August 26th, the motor died. Was using the unit once per week. So, pretty much the same as the Chinese units I've had before. Unit is under warranty and took it to Leslie's to be repaired. So, thank goodness for that. Disappointing. ------ this unit is a beast! It cleans better than anything I've owned before. My only to criticisms are; 1. The line /hose gets twisted up 2. sometimes it misses the same spot over and over. 3. I had to order the ultra fine filter to get silt up out of the pool and it was $80.00 Other than that, this thing is awesome. Definitely way better than any of the lithium ion battery units I've had. ... show more

    • Poor Design in need of change
I wanted to use my Polaris 8050 Robotic pool cleaner for 6 months or more before I gave my honest review. I experienced two discrepancies that the manufacturers needs to incorporate. The first problem is the line from the controller to the cleaner will get tangled due to no hose swivel. This causes the hose to kink and the cleaner to stay in a very small area in the pool. The second problem is the maximum time to run is 1.5 hour, then the cleaner shut off. You have to go outside and turn the cleaner on again. It would be perfect if the cleaner could operate for at least 6 hours at a time, especially if you work Monday through Friday and are gone from your home. This is a very expensive cleaner and the designer failed to incorporate these options. The unit cleans good but requires at least 6 hours of continuous run time to clean my pool which is 20 x 35 and 2 feet in the low end and 5.5 feet in the deep end. My pool has three 8 feet long steps that the cleaner will not work on. They have to be cleaned by hand. Without the manufacturer incorporating these changes, I wouldn't buy this cleaner or recommend it. It's not worth the Price. ... show more

There are other pool robots out there but this is the second one we’ve purchased bc we loved our first one so much. It works hard so you don’t have to. Our first one lasted 4 years of solid use. We used it multiple times a day at times bc of the trees behind our house. For the money it is definitely one of the best out there and when this one goes, we would buy it again. Comes with the cart to hold it. So way to use and I like the price tag as we shopped around before settling on this one again. I wasn’t spending $2000 on the wireless brands. No app to have to deal with. Plug it in and be done. Our pool is 35,000 gallons and it has no problem at all getting everywhere. ... show more
