I make lots of my own dvd's - for my use and for friends & family. My previous PC came with some software which was pretty great, although the process took a while - first a disc image had to be created and then the actual burning process could begin. Nevertheless, it was overall a successful process. That computer died after many reliable years, I got a new one and bought a new version of the old software. The new software is on its way back to Amazon as I type. What crap it was/is! I had looked at this copier many times, but always talked myself out of it - mostly for the cost. I finally went ahead and got one. WOWOWOWOW! It literally is a take-it-out-of-the-box,-plug-it-in-and-begin-to-copy/burn-immediately kind of deal! It burns a complete dvd in 7 minutes - no creating disc images and a really fast burn. Did it cost some $$? Yes, but the frustration often in using even the good software and the frustration using the various crap softwares I tried is more than worth the cost of this unit. When I used it the first time, I realized what a bozo I was for not ordering one after the first time I considered it. Oh, and here's another plus...when my new computer finally crashes sometime in the (hopefully) distant future, I will still have this fantastic, stand-alone unit. There will be no need for buying/trying replacement software, with new product keys to register because the old keys died with the old pc. I love that I don't have to do anything but USE it. It's very easy to use. I recommend burning 3 at a time then give it a rest. I own another one for cds. That's what I do and it seems to keep it from getting too hot. I also have made duster covers for mine because the dust can easily get in the back fan area. ... show more

No complaints about this unit. I made copies of family DVD's for my 3 siblings. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and ran 93 copies of DVDs for first use. No problems , copy speed was ok no problems at all. Good value for the money. ,

    • Seems to be a problem with CD/DVD duplicators....
Note: I did return this unit. After several attempts, I concluded it was malfunctioning. Both scanning and burning failures. Now, I have owned three duplicators at different times. All were used occasionally for personal purposes and never for professional or large scale duplicating. Not one of them ever worked for long without problems. Particularly, the most common issue was failure to duplicate cds with music, esp. from cd-r masters. I always use archival quality blank discs, and ironically, these cause the most problems, which becomes expensive after awhile. Every duplicator I have seen advertised for sale superficially appears to be a clone of the others and are branded under different names. I do not know how many different manufacturers are involved. The biggest difference between them is in the firmware and menu options. In most cases, units fail when used a number of times in a row. I have wondered if this is because of poor cooling from underpowered fans. Had high hopes for this model because it is more heavily built than others, and has a much more powerful fan. I followed the instructions and did not plug it in until after four hours in a warm room, as it had been exposed to subfreezing temperatures during delivery. As it is, I am back to using my only 2-year old duplicator, which works fine if one doesn't stress it by asking it to copy too many times in one session. I gave this three stars because of the solid construction and I am almost to the point of believing it is just defective and not a design flaw. But if I buy again, I think I will try a different "brand." ... show more
