  • It WORKS!
This product is a must, as an aid for falls. It was easy to put together, even though some of the instructions were not very clear. I've had it for a couple of months and only recently had a fall that required assistance for getting up. The hardest part was getting up on the chair seat. You have to be able to raise up your backside far enough to position yourself on the seat of the chair. It is about 4 inches up from the floor, when you first move onto the chair. A small ramp would have made it easier to move yourself onto the seat in the down position. When you get on the chair initially, the back is tilted at an angle so you can lean back and pull yourself onto the chair. Once I was on the seat, it was very easy to start the lift and the chair back moved to a 90 degree angle to support your back. It took a couple of minutes for the chair to be in the full up position. At maximum height, it is equivalent to the height of a kitchen chair. I was able to easily stand and walk to a safe chair with minimal assistance. This lifting chair is amazing, it required some effort to get onto the seat in the down position, but once there, I felt secure. The lifting is very quiet and slow by necessity. When not in use, it sits out of the way in my office. It is very portable, holds a charge well. This is one of the fastest ways I have used to help get me off the floor. Not as much fun as the fire department crew, but less embarrassing. Even if I don't need it but once in a while, this is the best tool I have toward remaining independent. ... show more

  • Life-saving!
Perfect and easy to learn to use. Sturdy (my husband weighs 200 pounds) and strong-- and it is perfect for raising him up from a lying position on the floor.

  • It works well.
As caregiver, I only had to use it once but I think it did a good job to lift the disabled woman up to a height that made it easier for me to help her transfer to the wheelchair or bed. It’s a bit heavy but I was able to carry and set it up next to her so she could get on it and sit in position to be raised up. I think that as caregiver you would have to help by holding the person so they don’t slide off the chair as it was being raised to the maximum height (which is standard chair height). That might not be an issue if the disabled person had good core strength and can sit unsupported. This lift is a relief to have for someone who uses a walker and sinks to the floor and can’t get up without strong assistance as she is 135 pounds. The lift is quiet and goes up gently. Time will tell how durable it is. Update:I solved the heavy chair issue. I bought furniture movers, the plastic pieces that you slip under furniture legs so you can slide heavy pieces of furniture around. These work very well. I just slip them under the chair lift and push the chair to where it is needed. ... show more

  • A good thing to have in an emergency, but needs improvement
I have not actually had to use this in an emergency, but I have tried it out and it can lift you from the ground to a sitting position. You need to watch the cord that goes to the handheld controller, as it can get caught in the support links when the chair is rising or falling and it can be severed it that happens. There must be enough room next to the person who is on the floor and that person also must be able to drag themselves or be pulled onto the collapsed chair. But once he or she is on then things go smoothly (watch where the cord is so it doesn't get caught in the mechanism). It's a great concept and I expect it to come in handy for the old man that needs it if he gets stuck on the floor. Update 11/1/2025: I used this lift chair to get my wife back on her feet and it worked well, although having her slide onto the chair took some effort. If the person you are trying to lift is injured or too weak to move themselves, then getting them onto the chair would be quite difficult. Since the lift chair weighs about 28 pounds, it isn't all that easy to transport - especially since there are no wheels on it. Adding wheels and a handle for moving the chair when it's fold up would be a big help. Also, the chair doesn't lock into its folded position, so I had to put a bungee cord around it so it would not flop open while I carried it. So, overall, this chair is a great concept but lacks some features that would greatly make it easier to handle - namely, a set of wheels and a handle you could hold on to while wheeling it around. Wheels wouldn't be necessary if it weighed twenty pounds or less. Also, it would help a lot if you could lock it into the folded position to make it easier to transport. Since it doesn't, I needed the bungee cord to keep it folded. To summarize: if you can transport the chair to where it's needed and if the user can be moved onto the seat then this will be extremely useful. ... show more

  • This Chair Worked Great for My 84-year Old Mother
I purchased this for my 84-year old mother who occasionally falls and cannot get up without assistance. I am not able to lift her myself, so I had a lot of hopes for this chair. It works great! We just used it last week. All she had to do was scoot over into the seat, and I pressed the "up" button on the control. It slowly raised her to a normal sitting position, and she was then able to stand up. The chair weighs about 30 pounds. It's a little awkward for me to carry (I'm 5'4") but I can lift it and take it up and down the stairs. I'm so glad we found this product! It's given both of us some much-needed peace of mind. ... show more

  • I am impressed . Nicely done product from a US company at a very reasonable price.
I was going to build something like this for my wife's occasional need. I could not buy the parts to to build this for what they sell this unit for. The scissors mechanism is genius. It is simple to use and folds up to carry easily. I am 74 and a retired systems control tech. The unit is easily carried by almost any one. With the control unit and battery it weighs only 25 pounds. It is water proof as it was originally designed for a bathing chair. You can even use it outdoors. I thought about using as an adjustable height chair for working on say cars or what ever need be. Or use it in the shower. Weight limit is 300 pounds. I feel very fortunate that I found this product. ... show more
