No more aching backs and sore muscles. The Joerns lift is easy to set up and simple to use! Expensive but worth every penny. The trickiest part is avoiding slings that are too big, and remembering to unplug the unit before using (it will not work when plugged in - a safety feature). We should have bought this lift a long time ago!

Finally arrived and was mostly assembled. Easy enough to get out of the box (not easy for one person, but doable with care) Took almost no time to complete assembly. The fact that it folds up helps and is a very nice feature if one needs to store it. Only issue was that the legs, when properly locked were about 2-3-4" too wide to get around the corner into the room where it needs to be used. Unlocked, the legs wander and make stability somewhat of a concern - requires attention when doing it that way. Easily fixed, unlock legs, make a temporary brace out of a couple clamps to straddle the legs and clamp those together with a C clamp at the proper spacing. Will acquire a couple more of the clamps for the legs and then bolt them together so all I have to do is unlock the legs, space them properly and squeeze the tightening handles to make it secure. Other than that one issue, which is probably only affecting us in this postage stamp apartment, it works very well and is certainly easier than the hydraulic / mechanical hoyer it replaces. It also rolls a lot easier than the mechanical hoyer, About the only negative is that, unlike the mechanical hoyer, the legs do not have variable spacing / locking in those positions. Bit of engineering solves that problem well enough that safety is not an issue :-). Until I figured out that solution I was afraid I would have to send it back (WHEW! :-)).

I had never used a lift before I acquired this Hoyer lift. My husband is a multiple stroke survivor and it has become increasingly difficult for me to move him from bed to chair, etc. This lift is a blessing! It is an incredible product. Easy to set up. Easy to maneuver over tile and wood floors. A little more difficult to roll over carpet. It does not come with slings but they can be purchased from a variety of sources. The remote control is easy to use. At first, I had difficulty getting it to work. What I did not understand and the manual with it did not explain is the importance of the red emergency stop button. The people at Joerns (manufacturer) and Cascade Medical (Seller) were extremely patient and helpful as I learned how to use this machine. When you park it and plug it into an outlet, you push the emergency red button in. When the button is depressed, it locks and the machine will recharge. You cannot operate the boom when the lift is plugged in and recharging. When you are ready to use it again, unplug it from the wall outlet, roll it out, and turn the emergency button counter clockwise to release it (It pops up). Now you can use the remote control to raise and lower the boom to transport your loved one. The legs open wide with the push of a peddle. The wheels lock and unlock quickly and easily with the foot levers. It is strong but light weight and can fold easily to fit into the back of a van or truck. Because the legs are rather long, you will need a large space to turn and maneuver the machine. It is difficult to maneuver in narrow hallways and doorways - but it can be done. The handles allow you to guide and position it exactly where you want it to go. The patient sways in the swing so be sure to steady it with your hand from time to time. Great product. It has enabled me to continue caring for my husband at home. Thank you Cascade! Thank you Joerns!

Great product. Virtually no assembly, start up instructions a breeze. Straightforward use! Already able to move husband to and from bed and recliner by myself! Additionally the legs open wide enough to go around base of lift chair . Medicare provided only a manual hydraulic that was useless for me to use!

Lift has worked flawlessly. Easy to assemble. Easy to transport (disassembles to two major components). The only thing I would do different is to incorporate a weighing device into it.

Well...I hit the Buy button hoping to provide some relief to the primary caregiver, upgrading from a manual device. This unit would not charge, and would not work while plugged into the outlet. It's meant to run only on battery once charged. Spent 45mins holding for Joerns support listening to revolving message that my call would be answered in the order it was received, but no tech came online! Buyer beware... the return fee is monstrous, and it all comes out of your pocket!! You get a label with a return address, that's it!!

I have use this product multiple times a day with my 230 pound elderly parent for months. It consistently works well. Wheels work better on non-carpeted surfaces, but it still can be used on carpet. I use it solo and can easily lift my parent into a wheelchair, a recliner, and also into a bed.
