I am a silversmith and use Sparex as my pickling compound. This product turns yellowish brown in color when added to water which is not at all acceptable. It is so bad and murky that I am not able to find my silver pieces in the bottom of my small pickle pot. Awful - I will throw it out and go back to ordering it from my regular supplier, Rio Grande. The box was intact but the product had a tear in the bag. It was strewn all over the box and pouring out of the box flaps where it was not sealed. Now I have it all over my porch,floor, carpet and table. \this product is acid and should have been properly bagged and supported with some filling I the box to keep it from sliding all over. ... show more

I put this in a wax warmer as I didn't have anything else around and only needed a tiny amount. It worked great for my soldering. I then used it to clean an antique silver compact that had black spots on it. I figured it couldn't hurt. To my surprise the black spots rubbed right off. Well, they are light brown now at least so I think I just need to leave it in longer, according to the experts. Don't get it on you because it hurts! Some got on my finger - ow. Lastly, like many have said, the bag was split and contents spilled into the box. I hope they start putting it in an extra bag. ... show more

Well like some have already said. Product was a day late probably because when I opened the package, the original package of Sparex was split and most of it was in a ziplock bag. I weighed the bag and got 2 lbs but not the 2 1/2 lbs I ordered. There must be something wrong with their original package. Since I don’t really know if it is supposed to stay warm in a crock pot I’m not going to buy again. My wife had bought a very, very tarnished copper plaque 24" in diameter. I built a 25'' square 2'' deep wood basin, lined it with some 6mil poly, set the plaque in it and covered it with a gal. of the acid mix. After about 4 hours I used a small brass brush in the crevises and it came out looking great. A happy wife makes for a happy life ... show more

I have always used Sparex 2 in my pickle pot. Earlier this year, I decided to go green and tried every salt/vinegar formula possible. I was not happy with the results. I used a PH Down, which was better than the household combinations but not as dependable as Sparex 2. I’m back to Sparex and can’t imagine using anything else.
