I bought this thinking it would be underpowered and underperforming and I would have to return it, but it is too good to let go. Seriously. It is my favorite tool now, and I am just figuring out the range of capabilities for the welder. Write ups only seem necessary when products are exceptionally good or bad. This is the third laser welder I worked with. The first two were early 1500 watt water cooled models. Please keep in mind not a professional expert welder, but can mig and stick weld competently, and tig weld like an rookie... but with this welder I was laying down you tube quality welds inside of 15 minutes of setup. Like all the videos and reviews of this instrument you can find are spot on, it is amazing. It is even possible to weld mixed metal. I did some copper to aluminum that came out beautifully. This technology is just getting established, and this welder has game changing potential for more applications (mixed metal, plastic, who knows what). Unboxing, everything was packed and organized very well. There are a handful of things needed to get up and running, all my mig wire was on small rolls and the wire feed is set up for large rolls. 3d printed an adapter, got an adapter for the gas tube fitting and a filter/drier for my compressor and was ready to go. Unpacking and set up is simple and the instructions are clear enough. Starting with cutting, it seems like the air pressure recommendation for cutting is a little low but not wanting to put a huge amount more air through the head than recommended, I turned it up to get great cuts through different steel types. There is a sample piece that came with the welder, and I was able to replicate that performance in about 10 minutes of hands on time. Cutting aluminum above 3mm shows the limits of the 700 watt laser. Thicker Aluminum would be cut with a few passes, but not pretty. 3mm or thinner aluminum and all the steel thicknesses I tried cut perfectly, once I had enough air pressure to blow the molten metal out of the razor thin cut. It was also very easy to put holes in the epoxy on the floor a few feet below what I was cutting, so look out in the background and dont cut your toes off. There is much more power available in this 700 watt air cooled system than there there was with the 1500 watt water cooled systems I worked with. Setup and user interface are simple and effective. I was prepared to be let down, but it is way too useful of a tool to let go. It might be possible to find something at a lower cost imported, but with tariffs I'm not sure that is possible anymore. This is a fantastic bargain taking into account the quality of work a rookie can turn out, as long as the material selection, weld depth and fit tolerances are accounted for. It is smaller and a bit heavier than my mig/tig welder, and about the same weight. Also a perfect compliment for thin metal and fast jobs, and more versatile tool. Ill add some pics to the review soon. Edit 10.17.2025 The XLaserlab team has been exceptionally helpful. They proactively reached out to ensure ensure everything was going well and asked if I had questions. My original use case for the welder was to do customer exhaust fabrication working with a local tuner. Ill post some pics of the 3 motorcycle exhaust systems I worked on as the welds are pro quality even if I am not a pro welder. Putting O2 bungs in thin exhaust tubing used to be a challenge but not now. I dont see how people using mig and tig for the tight fitting, thin, fabrication work are going to keep up, this is a game changer. There is a youtube video out there of a space x engineer/welder who had his mind and career changed by this. Not surprising at all now...

I have been using this laser welder for 2 weeks now. First off, it appears to be a very well built machine. The front user screen is large and easy to see. The user interface is mostly intuitive. With that said, the user manual is pretty much useless for any operation other than initial setup. For operation, the user is directed to their YouTube channel which, to put it nicely, is in its infancy. There are a few buttons on the “handle” called “process” buttons and their corresponding led’s but nowhere in the manual is there an explanation of what they do. No, they are not “mode” buttons to switch between welding, cutting or cleaning. If you are planning on using this machine for Aluminum welding, be aware that you will need either heavy gauge welding wire, or specialized aluminum wire with magnesium infused or the wire will birds nest in the rollers. Soft steel welding and cutting is pretty straightforward and the machine does a great job at welding the steel. Overall, I’m happy with the product but I have it 3 stars for the lackadaisical attention to user guides. I have been in communication with the seller after this review and have learned a few things about the Welder. Before I get into that, I do have to say that communication with them has been excellent. As I said, I will be using this mostly for aluminum and there is a special kit that you can buy separately called the graphene kit, which makes working with softer metals much easier, and less prone to bird nesting. I’ve ordered the kit and will post again once it comes in and I have given it a try but overall, I am very happy with this Welder.

This machine is absolutely amazing! It can make you a happy little welder in no time, very easy to operate and the stuff you can do with it is mind boggling. I was hesitant because of the price ,but am I happy that I pulled the trigger and bought it …. Do it , you’ll be glad you did..it’s fun

Being a welder, I was skeptical of laser welding. I read and watched everything I could find on the X1. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a unit. My first weld was disappointing...the weld was the size of a Pence lead. So I viced it up and beat the crap out of it with a sledge! It held strong. I have replaced my TIG welder with the X1. FYI...Welding Aluminum was amazingly easy! I dont recommend the X1 for anything structural...car frames etc, but for 90% of what I do, its great!
