I was very surprised how well this worked! I remember using my dad's 220 stick welder when I was a kid and it was a pain. This was so easy and it welded great. My project was to convert an old boat trailer into an off road motorcycle trailer. Not finished with it, but it exceeded my expectations!!!!

    • Hone welder is easy to use.
I am amazed at how easy it is to use this welder. My first attempt was to weld a 3/8 inch link on my tree pulling chain. Due to the small work area I thought perhaps I should try something bigger and easier but I went ahead anyway. The result was way beyond my expectation. The welder starts gently and did not stick. I was welding far better than I thought I could and the welder was the reason. With some practice I will get back to making beautiful welds like I did years ago. The Hone stick welder is perfect for the homeowner with around the house repairs to do. If you are a do-it-yourself kind of person this is the welder for you. It looks like a toy because it is so tiny but it really works. An auto-darkening shield is a must to protect your eyes and is easier to use. ... show more

Great welder!!! I can't believe how bad the pictures were on these reviews so I burned some 3/32 6011 as soon as I got the welder. These are my first and only stick welds EVER. These are all of them. I have about 2 hours on a wire feed welder, but this is my first time touching a stick welder. Not saying I know what I'm doing, but this welder at least made it super easy and fun to run my first few beads. The two bars had been in a wet basement for years and I welded them without any surface prep. The power on this little machine is amazing and the hot start/arc force features really seemed to be helping me out with my inexperience. That said, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I just know it felt awesome. I have no idea about longevity or safety of the unit, but it feels solid and it welded better than I could have ever imagined. ... show more
