It works fine, easy to weld with. Nice smooth DC arc. Good quality cables & ground clamp. Very portable, capable, too. It shouldn't be able to run a big 5/32" rod, but it can! If you try to stick the rod, it detects the short circuit and turns the current off! However, it does get a little hungry at settings above 100 or so, and wants a little bit more power than a 20-Amp breaker or fuse wants to allow, and may pop the breaker or blow the fuse. Use 3/32" rod, which take less current, or 1/8" rod at settings below 100. Also good at low settings and either 1/16" or 5/64" rod.

Im a HVAC contractor and build my own security cages for the outside unit. I got rid of my shop and work mostly on my concrete patio. I started using mig machine but needed something a lot easier to carry around and worked on normal 120 volt circuit. I bought the HF 80 amp welder when it was under $100.00 and it worked fine for 1/16 electrodes but struggled with the 3/32. I caught the Yeswelder 120 on sale and it is an awsome welder for what i need it for. 3/32 no problem @ 80 amps. 6011, 6013, 7014. 7018. The Hone 110 volt welder was cheaper than all of the above so I bought it just because. It does everything the Yeswelsder does but with at lower setting. it puts out a lot more power through the electrode took a lot of test runs to dial it in from blowing through my 1/8 " angle iron. Its the smallest, lightest and most aggressive for 110 volts. This will be the one that rides in my car with the rest of my toolsduring service calls

I have been lugging around a Lincoln AC buzz box for my entire life (over 100 lbs. for copper wound). While the buzz will do 220 amps with 3/16 rod, this little 120 V, 6 lbs. box WAY out preforms with 3/32 and runs it DCRP! Just the difference in weight and convenience is $70 very well spent, but add to that very reliable arc starts and a stable sweet arc, and it is worth it's weight in gold! Can't wait to try it with my small Yamaha suitcase generator for portable welding! I haven't yet tried 1/8 or 5/32 rod, but 90% of what I do will call for 3/32. I did see a review where 5/32 rod works, and only a 20 amp breaker!

Great welder!!! I can't believe how bad the pictures were on these reviews so I burned some 3/32 6011 as soon as I got the welder. These are my first and only stick welds EVER. These are all of them. I have about 2 hours on a wire feed welder, but this is my first time touching a stick welder. Not saying I know what I'm doing, but this welder at least made it super easy and fun to run my first few beads. The two bars had been in a wet basement for years and I welded them without any surface prep. The power on this little machine is amazing and the hot start/arc force features really seemed to be helping me out with my inexperience. That said, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I just know it felt awesome. I have no idea about longevity or safety of the unit, but it feels solid and it welded better than I could have ever imagined.

I purchased this for the sole purpose of repairing expensive tomato cages that don't last nearly as long as expensive tomato cages should last. I'm talking about the cages that are 10+ dollars. At that price, the welds shouldn't fail after a season or two. I digress. I knew nothing about welding, but had enough fundamental knowledge about how electricity works. If you find yourself in that boat, then I recommend reading up on proper usage first. Stick size and amperage are very important. The trickiest part was removing the paint coating from the spots I planned to weld together. Aside from that, this unit did exactly what I needed it to. I repaired several tomato cages, which meant I did not have to purchase any new ones, which further meant I broke about even in terms of how much I saved vs how much I spent on the unit, plus sticks, plus helmet. After building up a little confidence, I started repairing other things that were destined to be thrown out or would have required a professional to repair at a hefty price. Removed the deck from riding mower to sharpen the blades and notice a large crack was forming where the mounting plate met the deck. Repaired that. Removed a stabilizing jack from my camper that wouldn't work because the drive screw had separated from a washer that was needed to work properly. Repaired that. Removed a large shed door hinge that had sheered in half and was completely unusable. Repaired that. All in all, it has more than paid for itself.
