    • My new Falcon vs the H8, an honest comparison
The Philodo Falcon is my fourth e-bike, and my second Philodo. I have steered two of my friends into buying Philodos and they are both pleased with their bikes. I was happy with my Philodo H8, which I purchased about 18 months ago. I’ve had it to the beach, it does great in sand, the power was fine, and customer service was quick to respond to a minor issue that occurred with shipping. Still, I’m one of those guys that always wants a little more power. When I saw the Philodo Falcon, I looked at the specs and just had to pull the trigger, knowing that it comes from the same company that provided such a great e-bike (my H8). I am providing the following as an honest comparison between these two bikes in the event you are torn between the two. What is the same…. The Wheels and tires, brakes, front suspension, and gear components are pretty much the same. The front shock is of adequate quality but not what you would find on a $6-8K mountain bike. Hydraulic brakes with 180MM rotors provide great stopping power. Both bikes handle great but should only be purchased by persons who can handle a more powerful ride. The differences…. The Falcon has a larger battery (32ah vs 26) more power (210nm vs 170nm of torque), a rear suspension with an adjustable air shock. The Falcon is heavier, with the front end tipping the scales at 53.9 lbs and the rear at 52.1 (106 lbs) while the H8 is comparably lean at 40.8 lbs front and 49.9 rear (90.7 lbs). You can feel the weight difference a little, the acceleration is close with the Falcon just a bit quicker, but top speed is hands down Falcon (my 210 lb frame gets the H8 to around 31-32 on level ground while the Falcon gets up to almost 40!). The rear suspension and the additional 15 lbs (with more balanced weight distribution) gives the Falcon a smoother ride. The H8 has a front derailleur giving it 21 speeds while the Falcon has only 7. The H8 would be easier to pedal if your battery has been fully drained, although with 32ah that should not come into play. The Falcon is everything I had wanted it to be…. Great power and speed, comfortable, good handling and stopping power, and the knowledge that it is backed by a company that goes out of their way to provide great customer service.
