Updated: From 1-star to 5-stars (with an *) //*\\ Note: If you manage to get one where the Model# (located on inside of battery cover) is: "DDL242X-1HW" then return it and hope the replacement isn't the same model #. ✓ That particular model has a software bug which (as of 8/30/2026) has not yet been resolved, and prevents the lock from being anything other than a 1-code or physical-key lock. ✓ Add insult to injury when you realize you've spent $140 schmeckels on a sleek deadbolt, and the good people of Philips CS tell you that the front door lock you just installed [more quickly than you'd anticipated because the product is so well designed] ought to be replaced unless you wanted to wait [however long, "hours to months"] for the software issue to be resolved. ✓ I wanted to give it one more try and another call to Philips Customer Service, and CS member "Aaron" was actually terrific. Dude heard me out, confirmed the issue, took my info, and got me set up with a replacement. Honestly, the customer service really impressed me. The replacement works exactly as it should, connected to the Wi-Fi (which was the issue with the initial model) quickly, and I love it.     • Not bad but could be better
I liked this lock but ended up returning it. It is great that it came as a complete set at a good price, and it looks nice. Installation was fairly straightforward but note that the handleset is shorter than others so you may need to drill a new hole for it to be installed. The lock itself works quite well; is fast and easy to operate. The keypad is very clear and easy to use; the key entry is hidden behind the fingerprint scanner, so it has a nice clean, simple look. However, I had several difficulties causing me to return it. First, You have to download and use a separate app which does not sync with my alarm network (Ring) - not terrible but could be better. Second, the fingerprint scanner did not work - it would simply not accept my fingerprints and the app repeatedly told me to reinstall the lock. And third, even though it says you can use Alexa to control it, the lock was never able to be recognized or controlled by Alexa. It is entirely possible that the technical issues I experienced could be overcome thru conversations with both Philips and Ring tech support but I decided if it was that difficult I didn't want to have to deal with it, so I returned it and purchased a different brand of smart lock which easily connected to my alarm system and is easily controlled thru Alexa. ... show more

I’m very impressed with this Philips smart lock. The installation was much easier than I expected and took only a short time with basic tools. The instructions were clear and straightforward. What I love most is how easy it was to program. Setting up user codes and customizing the lock was quick and hassle-free. Finally was able to get these installed in my new doors and they are awful. The handle set is soft and scuffs easily. The deadbolt is made from cheap plastic. The smart lock will not pair and has been factory reset multiple times. Before the factory reset the app automatically detected the lock, connected via Bluetooth, and failed trying to verify the master code. Master code was tested and it is the default master code. Factory reset, the app detects the lock but it will not pair via Bluetooth. ... show more

This Philips lock has been a nice upgrade for a quality modern keyless entry. We’ve set it up for both coded and finger print which are great features to have. The auto-locking function was easy to pair for connectivity however our door is aligned just off enough that it has to be pulled for the lock to engage. Not a defect of the lock but notable. Security is enhanced with a true deadbolt latch on the frame, however it does not match the sloped profile of the standard ‘ramped’ frame latch of typical doors. ... show more

easy install. the app works well and gives you the ability to add/delete pin codes dynamically. fingerprint registration is similar to the iPhone (back when they did that), instructions are in the app as you do it. it does talk to you (unlocked, locked, etc.). green light when finger print is accepted, red when not. do not know how long the batteries will last, but since it works so well it is not a concern. ... show more
