Overall I really do like this lock. With kids in the house it's a great alternative to hiding keys under rocks. Since our kids are all iPad users they are also fully comfortable with using their fingerprints to access stuff. Win/win. As someone else mentioned in a review, I received a lock that had a flaw in the mounting plate. I had to drill a slot bigger to allow the cable to pass through. Not a big deal but this thing would literally be a 25 minute project were it not for that issue. It's a bit of a bummer to have to butcher up a brand new unit but there's no way I was going to wait for them to send a new plate. Done and done. I see there are versions of this lock that are keypad only, this version I would avoid. Waking up the keypad is not consistent. It takes some gymnastics of the hand to get the thing to come alive. The fingerprint scanner, on the other hand, is flawless. Touch and open - all set. A great lock from a reputable brand name with just a couple flaws. I got this to replace the old one I have. The one I got is a well known brand but it wouldn’t recognize my mom’s and my kids fringed prints. The installation is easy. I was able to find some video on YouTube. I was looking for an alternative and love to have the different options. Key, code, and finger prints. The only thing I don’t like is you can’t lock it using the finger print or code. You have to enter the master code which you are not supposed to give to anyone else. ... show more

This would be a five star review if you had the ability to lock by using your pass code or fingerprint as well as unlock! Unfortunately, you can only use this to unlock the door and you must like it from the inside if you want it to be locked. Otherwise works as expected.

We installed this at our AirBnB location hoping that we could remotely generate codes for people staying at our unit halfway across the country. While it does generate one-time use codes through the app, it doesn't allow for creation or deletion of user codes through the app. In order to create a new user code, a code that someone can use until deleted, you have to be physically in front of the device. The installation was fairly easy/straight forward, we just wish the app had more functionality. It would be amazing if the app could create/delete user codes instead of just for one-time code generation. You can't even change the master code from the app either. ... show more

As other reviews have noted, installation is very straightforward if your door is already drilled for an existing, mass market front door lock (e.g. Kwikset or Schlage), though I di dhave to file down the edge of the strike plate in order to enable to bolt to insert and retract smoothly. I also liked that you don't have to download yet another app in order to use it, apart from one specific function that few are likely to want to use (one-time codes). The fingerprint reader has also been 100% accurate so far, recognizing the fingerprints of all my family members on the first contact. My one major complaint is that you have to place an unrecognized fingerprint on the reader, and then touch the keypad area after the lock says "verification failed," in order to make the keypad light up to enter a code. This is not explained anywhere in the instruction manual, and took me half an hour to figure out. It makes locking the door on your way out more time-consuming than it needs to be. It is also likely to be confusing for guests or contractors to whom you issue a temporary code, unless they are warned in advance and given instructions. ... show more

Everything was great and easy to use. However if you have younger kids and want them to use the fingerprint unlock feature make sure you spend some time with them showing how they will have to move their finger around a lot in order for it to catch. It’s not as responsive as older iPhones were. It takes more effort especially for kids who are short on patience. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This lock works as expected, you can install it very easily, add a fingerprint, set up codes, etc., but it supposed to be lock itself after you leave the house, guess what? It does not lock itself. I tried a lot and set it up as instructed, but still doesn't work. Philips please get in touch with me and let me know how to fix this issue. If it works I will update my review. (Update): The seller personally contacted me and sent me another door lock free of charge, without even asking me to return the one I have with me. I did not expect this, Philips has exceptional customer service. I Just received the new door lock that they sent me, I did not use it yet, but once I test if it works as it should then I will change my review to 5 stars, but for right now I raised my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I will update you soon. Update: 10/26/2023 I got the new Philips smart lock, I tested and installed it. It works seamlessly, installation was a piece of cake. The fingerprint works great, it self-locks after 30 sec or what you set it up. I don't see any issue this time with the new Philips smart lock that they sent me. I could use the master code, user code, and one-time PIN and all works perfectly. It has Bluetooth connectivity and it works great just download the app that is all you need. ... show more

This is a decent good looking lock, very easy to install and setup. There are 3 ways to lock and unlock the door, code, key and finger print. One thing It's missing and need improve is the automatic lock function. When you close the door, the automatic lock function is set either 30 to 120 seconds, it will not lock the door right away when door is closed, you either lock manually or wait from 30 or 120 seconds.
