Here's the reality. As electric razors incorporate more and more lightweight plastic parts, reciprocating designs such as Braun cannot compare to Rotary designs like this Phillips Norelco. 1. Reciprocating designs require bigger motors that use more power, and that power is lost in the motion of the plastic parts through flexibility and inefficient motion. 2. Rotary blades are more efficient because there is no reverse of direction. Any plastic parts are much more effective in the transmission of power. There is no constant reverse of direction and loss of momentum. 3. The spinning blades are much more able to cut whiskers with a much less powerful motor. 4. Rotary cutting heads create less noise and work effortlessly. I have used Braun razors for decades and watched them slowly lose performance as more and more plastic parts were incorporated in the design. This rotary shaver works so much better that it's not even funny. Say no to reciprocating razors unless you like having all of your hairs yanked out of your face. Stick with rotary shaver designs because they work without trying as hard.

I appreciate the shaving capability of this razor. It handles one day or multiple days of growth effortlessly and consistently. The circular pattern is the trick for me. Three things are not so great. First the odd decorative design or the head prevents easy access to tight spots like just under the nose. Needless “wings” get in the way and necessitate odd and uncomfortable shaving angles to get at the last little spot. Second, the pop out trimmer is very floppy and difficult to use except in only the downward motion which keep it open. And other pressure quickly collapses it. Sometime I need to push up just a little bit cannot. Third, the Bluetooth connection is horribly unreliable with a brand new iPhone 13. It so bad I have given up, which is too bad since it was one of the features I appreciated. Pairing, unpairing, forgetting the device, resetting the device. Doesn’t matter. I would have expected a razor at this price point to work as well as other Bluetooth devices that cost $150. Nope. Lastly, the cleaner is kinda gimmicky but does seem to work. I usually thoroughly wash the razor head open under hot water first so it’s already clean then use the cleaner once or twice a week. Does it help? No idea, but if it keeps things lubricated that’s good.

Works fine on my light whiskers. After a couple of years I think it needs the blades replaced. I got the cleaning kit with this. You can clean it yourself under running water but I like using the kit after cleaning it with running water. The kit is quick and easy.

This is absolutely the best shaver I have had in a long time. It's quiet and very easy to use. The battery life if excellent as well - I only need to charge it maybe once a week.

I expected a better shave after using this shaver the first couple of times, but it didn't perform half as well as the Philips Norelco 2100 (sadly no longer in production) that I had years ago. The only reason I got rid of it is because the top head assembly broke and parts are not longer available for it. The 2100 almost shaved as close as a manual blade and I did not have to go in repetitive circles for it to pick up hair either, unlike this model. It will also take you a while to get a decent shave too. However, battery life does seem to be rather good and the unit is easy to hold and clean. The shaver also comes with its own cleaner and bag along with a "lock" feature that can be enabled when you travel so that it doesn't accidentally turn on while in your luggage. Philips also has an app that gives shaving tips and the shaver will actually let you know how you shaved after you're done via its digital display. Like so many of Norelco's newer shavers today, it's worth nothing that this shaver also has half the power of the 2100. I have found that it also irritates my skin when I use it despite being marketed as a shaver for sensitive skin while using pre-shave solution and is quite simply not worth the price tag. Norelco's quality has clearly taken a dive and it shows here among some of their other newer shavers which I have tried as well. I ended up switching over to a Remington foil shaver (F5-5800) which is much cheaper and delivers a much closer shave in half the time.
