Description

Braun Series 9 Pro wet and dry foil shaver provides you with both a close and gentle shave, no matter if it's a 1, 3, or 7-day beard. The ProLift trimmer captures and cuts flat lying hair, combined with our unique Sonic Technology to help shave up to 10% faster for a more gentle shave in fewer strokes. Braun's AutoSense technology reads and adapts to your beard, providing a close shave even on dense beards. For unparalleled precision and control, this electric shaver features a redesigned precision switch to lock the shaver's head and easily capture tricky hair in those hard-to-reach areas like under the jawline and nose. A precision beard trimmer slides out of the back of the electric razor for easy and more accurate sideburn shaping. You can now shave cordlessly for longer (60 minutes) with 20% more battery than the previous Series 9. Braun Series 9 Pro 9465cc comes with a Clean & Charge station that hygienically cleans, lubricates, dries and charges your electric shaver at the touch of a button. Each shaving kit includes a Smart Plug charger for automatic 100 to 240 voltage adjustment. All Series 9 electric razors for men are made in Germany with premium craftsmanship.

  • Braun Series 9 PRO - 6 month review
Style: 9465cc Shaver
This razor is the 4th in a series of Braun razors I've owned over my lifetime (also Norelco and Remington razors). This is the second series 9 razor and replaced one purchased in February 2020. I replaced the unit because of a few things: first the power switch got snagged and pulled away, because it was becoming noisy, the edge trimmer wasn't cutting as well and because the cost of a new cutting head was nearly 1/4 that of a new razor. Of note, after 5 years of daily use, mostly while traveling using battery power, there was never a decline in battery function or life. So with that background, now on to the review. I stayed with the Series 9, because I liked it the best of all Brauns I used. It was difficult to determine from the product description if the "PRO" designation really added anything, after all the cutting head looks identical to the standard series 9. The unit otherwise seems identical as well structurally and functionally. However, I do believe it cuts better. Six months in it still provides an excellent close shave without effort. I'm still on the original cutting head. I use the cleaning system daily (except when I, now rarely, travel away from home for a few days). My tough 70 yo beard is cut close without irritation and with little effort. For my beard I have found the razor works great on a daily growth up to a 3 day growth. I actually think the sweet spot is 2 days. Beyond 3 days you need to really give the razor time to chop thru the longer hairs, but it works great without lots of pulling. A few suggestions: (1) don't rush or push hard onto your face - let the razor slowly glide over the skin and you can hear when its done because you'll stop hearing it cut each beard hair as it is moved (2) there is no one best way to hold the razor and you'll end up using it turned one way and then flipped over for other parts of your face - this improves the closeness (3) use a quality pre-shave - this is essential and I highly recommend the Mennen AFTA Pre-electric Shave Lotion which you liberally apply then let evaporate a bit until you feel the skin slightly tighten - then have a great shave. I also use the AFTA After Shave as well. I've been using Mennen products my whole shaving life, as my father did as well, and can attest to their quality. One caveat: this unit came with the counter top cleaning system which seems to be nearly identical to the one with the 2020 razor, but I replaced the old one anyhow thinking Braun might have made an incremental improvement. The indicator lights work when they want to, but otherwise it cleans the razor well (so no stars off). But remember that this cleaning system is pretty critical (in my opinion) to keep the razor functioning, and much like printer toner cartridges, Braun has you by the beard hair by necessitating regular replacement of the cleaning solution cartridges. I get mine on a subscription cycle from Amazon and 4 cartidges cost me $24. How often you need to replace a cartridge depends, I usually get them every 5 months. But beware that they will require replacement even if you don't use the cleaning system much because the cleaning/lubricating solution is highly volatile and evaporates even if you don't use it. So you might as well use it and keep your razor in the best operating shape!! Lastly, when you purchase a new razor I'd also purchase a new cutting head for future use. After all, prices are only going up!! ... show more

  • Exceedingly better than other razors I own.
Style: 9477cc Shaver
Due to sensitive skin, I haven't used a disposable razor for decades. For most of that time, any inexpensive electric razor worked adequately, but as my beard turned grey I had more and more issues shaving these thicker bristly white hairs. Over the last decade or so I've pretty much given up on shaving at all (except for using hair clippers to keep it short) despite buying multiple razors and hoping for a good shave. For the longest time, I used a Panasonic ES8103 that left me with a shave that wasn't so good even after passing over the same area 10-20 times. I then tried a Norelco OneBlade which actually worked ok but was comparatively messy and the blades only worked well for a short time and then required more passes to get a progressively poorer shave. And finally, the biggest waste of money was the Norelco Series 5000 which refused to shave my beard from day one. Even after a continuous 15 minutes of running it over my face still felt rough and numerous stubborn hairs remained here and there. On top of that, it was very difficult to reassemble after taking it apart to clean. I finally decided to buy the best-rated razor on the market which was the Braun Series 9. I did not have any great expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Even with fairly long stubble as my clippers don't cut very close the razer gave me a close shave after just one or two passes over any one area. The final result left my face smooth to the touch; a much closer shave than I've ever gotten from an electric razor. This razor is absurdly expensive, but if you can't get a good shave from a cheaper model certainly give it a try. As far as the cleaner that comes with this model, it does appear to work as intended, although I will have to use it longer before I can decide if it is just a gimmick or not. If you travel a lot the case that contains an external battery should be great but I probably will use it only rarely. My only complaint is that the instructions are completely useless. There are pages of pictograms that I couldn't make any sense of. I had to go only to find a review that covered the same information using words. Edit added after 2 months of use: I don't really have much to say about the performance of the razor as it continues to shave remarkably well. My only developing concerns are in regard to cleaning. The head contains some intricate parts many of which cannot be reached with the small brush provided and I don't think it was designed to be disassembled. This makes getting the version with the cleaning station almost obligatory. While it works pretty well this bulky device isn't perfect. Not only is some manual cleaning required it becomes necessary to clean the cleaning device as well. So far everything remains clean enough using the cleaner with some manual cleaning but if you have OCD it will probably drive you nuts that it is difficult if not impossible to get everything inside the razor perfectly clean. ... show more
