The Philips Norelco OneBlade has honestly been one of the most versatile and reliable grooming tools I’ve used. What stands out immediately is how close it shaves without the usual irritation you’d expect from a traditional razor. It gets very close to the skin, but I haven’t had issues with cuts or razor burn, which makes it easy to use regularly. I’ve used it on my face, head, and body, and it handles all of it well. It’s also convenient that you can use it both dry and in the shower. I’ve done most of my shaving in the shower and it performs consistently without any problems. One thing to keep in mind is that it’s not really meant to take down very long or thick hair in one pass. I tried using it to shave a full head of hair without trimming first, and that’s what wore down the original blade pretty quickly. Once I replaced the blade, everything went back to normal and performance was excellent again. The adjustable guard is useful if you want to trim instead of shave all the way down, but it can be a little confusing to attach at first. Once you figure it out, it works fine and stays secure. This is the first face grooming tool I’ve owned that truly respects my need to look professionally groomed without erasing all evidence that I can grow a luxuriously manly beard. I bought this expecting a part time beard trimmer. What I got was a diplomatic solution to the long-standing conflict between my face and shaving tools, and the one tool to take with me in my carry on for flying business or longboat raiding trips. The blade to the Viking me is witchcraft. To the modern professional me, a precision tool which flexes and pivots around my face like it’s mapping coastlines, making clean, sharp lines along my cheeks and neck — those important areas that separate “polished professional” from “barbarian who does not know mirrors exist.” Boardroom-ready edges? Check. Perfectly symmetrical beard lines? Check. Neck cleanup without irritation? Miraculously, check. This thing trims with precision, not aggression. It doesn’t remove your epidermis or yank your beard into submission by pulling it out one hair at a time — it shapes it, refines it, and leaves just enough texture to say, “Yes, I’m well-groomed, but I still know what a weekend is.” The adjustable guard from 1-5 mm make it easy to maintain consistent length, which is key when I want a beard that looks intentionally professional (4 and 5 settings are perfect, for me at least) and not like I have been plundering villages for the last 3 months. What surprised me was as how this also serves as a “razor.” I bought this as a beard trimmer but…. shaving performance is equally impressive. It gets close enough to look clean and professional without the razor burn penalty that usually follows. I thought I was getting a beard tool, and what I actually got is a diplomatic solution to the four decades long conflict between my face and shaving tools. My skin stays calm, my beard stays sharp, and my reflection finally looks like someone who has their facial hair, life and calendar mostly under control. It’s fast, easy to clean, works wet or dry, and has enough battery life to handle 2-3 weeks of extended business trip and survive multiple grooming sessions and at least one moment of deep self-reflection in the mirror. I’ve been using the original Philips Norelco OneBlade since 2021, and honestly, it still works very well. The battery is still decent after all this time, so I decided to give it to my dad to use. He loves it, but I figured it was time to get myself the new Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Hybrid—and I’m glad I did. Why I keep coming back to OneBlade: The New 360 Blade: Compared to my old 2021 model, the new 360-degree pivoting head is a noticeable improvement. It contours much better around my jawline and neck, which means I don't have to go over the same spot as many times. Reliability: I have never had a single problem with these shavers. No nicks, no skin irritation, and they are incredibly easy to clean since they are fully waterproof. Familiar Feel: It still has the same lightweight, ergonomic grip I’m used to, but it feels just a bit more "refined" than the older version. Great for Sensitive Skin: Just like my last one, this doesn’t shave quite as close as a traditional razor, which is exactly why I like it—zero razor bumps or ingrown hairs. This is ideal for individuals who need to shave during work hours. I hate myself for not having this while I was in the service. The battery arrives fully charged and can last a good minute when not in use. It's small and compact, perfect for travel, but a case would be recommended to prevent damage. It functions perfectly in water, although I prefer to keep it dry. It comes with a guard for trimming beards and a charging cable.
