I've used Norelco shavers since I started shaving (over 50 years ago). This shaver replaces my 6843XL which lasted for 17 years. The new one is great. It's actually more comfortable than my previous shaver. As mentioned in their guide, allow some time to get used to the shaver. My first shave was OK, but not as close as my previous shaver. By the third shave, it was just as good. By the tenth shave, it was definitely better. You can clean the head assembly using running water, but I prefer to use a brush, which is not included. One improvement I'd like to see is in the way the shaver drops into the charging base. I can't just drop it in; I have to align the pins and sockets, which isn't as easy as it should be. Note that per the guide, if your shaver arrives in freezing weather, allow it to warm up to at least 40 degrees before charging. ... show more

The Philips Norelco Shaver seems to have good battery life. I use the charging stand. I found that it gives a close enough shave ( I have course whiskers), but not a smooth shave ( I have to follow up with an actual blade razor to have a smooth shave. Another observation- its a quiet razor but it feels like it lacks horsepower to power shave whiskers-its either by design or by lack of design. I guess I’m NOT IMPRESSED by this razor. I feel it lacks power to really shave you smoothly. IF I WAS TO BUY ANOTHER RAZOR-it would NOT be this razor. My experience is that its OK, but NOT worthy of being called great! If you buy one, I hope you have a better experience. ... show more

This is my first electric shaver and I gotta say I’m impressed. I always just used a simple razor and it took too long and was tedious. This thing blew my expectations out of the water at a great price. I don’t have a lot of facial hair but I was able to finish in about 10-15 mins if not less. This shaver is great. Easy to hold and gives a close shave. Only slight problem was getting the first full charge. The instructions said if redlights were flashing, it needed a charge, nothing about orange lights flashing. Long story short it got charged and has been running smooth since.

This replaced a Norelco I had for years. Older model was much heavier. I'm am back to a relatively close shave. I normally shave with a razor on Monday and use the Norelco until Friday. For the money I'm happy.

For years I have been using an older-model cousin to this razor. It has been a good razor so decided to buy this to replace my old one, that’s still working by the way. I figured they have had time to make some improvements. This new one gives me a good close shave and does it reasonably quick - I’m happy with that. However, it will not power from the cord. In fact, it won’t even run with the cord plugged in. Really?! My old razor will run fine off the cord even if the battery is completely dead. Also, the on/off switch is right where my thumb is on my old razor, perfect placement. On this new razor the button is lower down the handle and cumbersome to reach with my thumb. It’s still a good razor but I docked it a star for making two features worse than it predecessor. ... show more
