I had been shopping around for a while for a new shaver but have always used Norelco/Phillips products. I had read a lot of back reviews of how large the plastic around the cutting heads were compared to the older models with circle heads. I had thought about going with the row shavers, but I couldn't bring myself to jump brands. I ended up buying the kit before a long trip. The shaver is actually a beautiful piece of machinery. Very heavy compared to my old model. The features with the pressure sensor is a neat at first but I eventually turned mine off. The battery lasts forever, no worries about running out of juice on a longer trip. The one caveat is I wished this came with an active drying/cleaning system like the older models. This cleaner uses the razor to run the pump within the "puck" to pump fluid into the cutter head. It works ok and does a decent job of cleaning, but the solution does not last very long. I clean mine 3 times per week and will be lucky to get 1 month out of a refill. Back to the cutting heads. I took measurements and it is mostly a visual deception. The plastic while it looks large is not much larger than the older round heads. I haven't experienced a single issue with under the nose shaving like some reviewers have mentioned. ... show more

Had a Norelco shaver in the past, switched to another major name brand but VERY unhappy with the quality of their replacement blades, so I've switched back. So far I'm very happy with the shaver and I quickly learned to appreciate the different color light rings while I shave as they help me understand when I may be pressing the shaver against my skin too hard or not enough. The motor is VERY quiet and so far I've been achieving a good close shave with little effort and no razer burn. My problem area has always been just under the jaw line but I've had good luck getting the close shave I was hoping for. As others have noted, the size of the square rotary head part could be improved (should be narrower and rounder) as a guy can't see how close he may or may not be getting to other facial hair, and I have a mustache. I can work around that as long as the shaver continues to shave other areas well and the pop-up trimmer does its job. Rinsing the blades under water is super easy - the cleaning pod is a bit odd, but it works - just wish Norelco would have added the charging contacts to the pod so I didn't have to use a separate charging station. All in all, I am happy with the purchase - if my experiences change with this razer as I use it more, I will make an addendum to this review. Shaving is very personal since facial hair can be very different on different guys, but this razer is working for me! A cautionary note - the replacement cleaning cartridges shown in the Amazon ad for this razer has an incorrect product code number - I had to send mine back and had to reorder the correct ones. You may want to wait to order the cartridges until you receive the instruction book that comes with the razer - the correct product number is listed there. ... show more

I've had various Norelco electric razors for a lot of years. The last one gave up the ghost and I replaced it with this one. I have been pretty impressed with the ease and closeness of the shave. The shaver is easier to hold and control and the instructions allow warm water cleaning after every shave with deeper cleaning and lubrication in the "expensive" to replace solution - that's better than the last one I had. Two issues I have with this shaver - 1. The charging stand is round and does not fit comfortably between the two walls of the corner and edge of my bathroom sink - and worse, the electrical cable connection to the charger stand is oriented toward the rear when the shaver is in place - demanding additional space between the corner, the sink and shaver/charger. A better design would allow the charger stand base with the cable connection to rotate at least 180 degrees. That would allow me to put the charger stand in the corner against both sides of the corner and not interfere with the sink - as opposed to sticking out from one wall; 2, The head of the shaver has three nearly rectangular pieces in which the shaver blades are embedded. This design may be designed to accomplish something, but it does cause some difficulty when I try to cut the mustache hairs that grow close to my nose - this design just does not allow the cutters to get close enough to get at least some of these hairs. Both of these design issues are relatively minor in the broad spectrum of things, but still enough to irritate. ... show more

    • Great shave, but a little bulky

I bought this after trying (and hating) the Panasonic ARC5 that so many people rave about. This razor blows the ARC5 out of the water, delivering a very close shave with minimal effort. I was particularly impressed by how close the shave was on my neck, with minimal irritation after I gave my skin time to adjust to it. The GroomTribe app is neat at first but isn't particularly necessary (and it feels very dystopian to have to connect my razor to Bluetooth) and I've recently stopped using it. I like the LED pressure indicators and feel that while I've never had problems before, my shaving technique has definitely improved since buying this razor. Cleaning the razor is easy with the provided cleaning station, and refills of the cleaning solution are not too expensive. I rated this razor 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little bulkier than any other razor I've had, making it slightly awkward to hold. Additionally, the width of the shaving head makes it difficult to get a good shave above my lip without hitting my nose. And I've found that the attached trimmer is not as effective as on previous Norelco models, so I tend not to use it. But all in all I think this razor and all of its features are worth the money. ... show more

I'm a care provider, this gives a fast, close shave without irritation. Was concerned about getting upper lip nose area shaved with this shape but it's perfect. Cut hairs are trapped inside the shaver head and are not falling into my son's mouth. He is uncooperative with shaving, but this shaver makes it easy.
