Over all I love the hue bulb system. I have many different bulbs all over the house and have my house set up for many different routines and light displayed. You could say I am pretty addicted to these bulbs because of their ease of installing, the quality and most importantly, the lighting. These bulbs are no different. This makes my viewing experience so much cooler, especially at night. The backlit tv that I have this on is a 65” tv and the picture definitely pops more. I really enjoy these bulbs. I chose to adhere the bulbs to the tv directly. It made the backlight a lot more discrete and beneficial. I did put them in all the positions available before making the choice. At the end I was able to hide the cords easier and make a cleaner look when they were attached to the tv. They attach with a 3M double sided sticker. These are very powerful stickers and are not meant to be taken off once placed. That is the only reason for giving it not a 5 out of 5. If I switch to a different tv...down the road..I am not sure how to re-attach the lights. There is another stand to use that can display vertical or horizontal. This may be a better option for some. I will just figure it out when the time come to switch my tv out. Over all I am very satisfied with the lights and am thinking about buying the hue sync box. Still waiting because of the price and it not allowing Dolby Atmos to pass through. ... show more

First of all. I did not need these in my life. In fact, I never told my wife that I was buying them or how much they cost. But, they are so cool it was totally worth risking my marriage. I mean, c’mon. Is it really that big of a deal? Anyway 5 stars. Would do it again.

As a professional producer and cinematographer, I spend A LOT of time with lighting gear. Even though I have a lot of pro-level lighting gear, everything I’ve tried to build for my WFH setup was either too bulky or way over-the-top. I really dislike the ring light look (and most of the ones you’ll find are cheaply made and have poor color), so I’ve been hunting for a low-cost, low-profile lighting solution to place behind my laptop to light me for video calls. Enter the Hue Play. Despite its unfortunate product name (Sonos, anyone?), the lights themselves are perfect as key and fill lights when placed 2-4 ft. away, at eye level. As a Hue bulb user, they incorporated easily into my existing setup. I’ve enjoyed these so much that I bought another pair to use as indicated in the marketing photos, behind a TV. They’re much smaller than I had assumed, based on the product photos, but that ended up being better. A larger source would provide a softer light, but as long as they’re close to you, the softness isn’t an issue. Having the ability to tune any color is amazing! These are wonderful for a tiny WFH studio and I can’t wait to add them to my home theater! ... show more

We went ahead and invested in these lights for our home and they are amazing. They are so easy to set up and have so many settings that you can try. There are two lights in the box, which were smaller than I expected but it's totally fine because they are easier to place behind your furniture. Looks great, it’s bright and setup was simple. When plugged and connected to the Hue Hub, it will need a software update. After the update the unit was integrated with my other lights. FYI- the 2-pack comes with 1 wall plug with 3 inputs (for total of 3 lights) on one of its sides. The cords on the Play Light Bars are 7 feet long. If you need to plug 2 Play Light Bars into different wall sockets then it might be worth it to buy two single Play Light Bar as each will have it’s own wall plug which you can place where you like. The wall plugs also have 3 inputs for 3 Play Bars. Cheers. ... show more

I bought this without knowing that I have to buy a Philips bridge for me to be able to control/change the lights. It arrived at my house and I only realized that when I was setting it up. I was gonna give it a 3 star because of that but gave it a 4 instead because the quality and the lights looks really great after I have everything set up with Philips bridge. I can change the colors anytime on my phone and there is a wide variety of stuff that you can do. ... show more

    • Worked great and easy to use
These light bars work great. They are a tad expensive but that’s Hue products in general. I used these for lighting at my wedding and it worked perfectly. In the end it was a purchase I was happy with.
