The lamp is fine. I don't really care about advanced features. I just wanted something about this shape and height. It hooked into alexa easily and can change colors. The -1 star is because the lamp is so tall with such a narrow base that it is very unstable. We put ours on a flat surface but it would be even worse on carpet. I'm going to try and 3d print some sort of stabilizing base. ... show more

These are simply an advertisement for more expensive equipment you will need to buy to get them to work the way you expect them to. Want to schedule a time for them to turn on in the App? Well, for that, you'll need the Philips Bridge ($70). Want to dim them? You'll need the Smart Dimmer ($70, or $90-$150, with two bulbs of questionable quality). Do you want to synchronize them to your TV? Well, you gotta pay up, because that will set you back $385 for the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box (8K!). Overall, these are crap, and they're just trying to sell you on more overpriced garbage that an app or simple software program could easily perform. Bought this lamp for our movie room, to add to the existing hue lights there. I always wanted more floor lights, but could never justify the price. This lamp is great, Hue finally provided a more reasonable option for floor lighting. It’s slightly shorter than their original floor light, but at less than half the cost of the original floor light…..no problem, works great, integration to hue app seamless….thanks Hue for waking up…… ... show more

This is a great product. It’s a truly addressable LED light tower with super clean dispersion and a wide dimming range. Setup is a breeze, this paired right up to my 2nd generation hub. It’s BRIGHT - enough to be useful for task lighting if the positioning is right. Speaking of positioning, the base is hefty, don’t worry about this falling over any time soon. I have other hue products in this room and the color match is flawless. It responds very quickly, and the dimming range is wide. I was very disappointed with this light for three main reasons: it does not integrate with Apple Home, the app is frustrating to use, and the physical build quality is poor. First, smart home integration is highly limited. Despite expectations, it only integrates with Alexa out of the box (as shown in my photo). To use it with Apple Home, you must purchase a separate hub. Because this light relies entirely on Bluetooth rather than Wi-Fi, you cannot control basic functions like turning it on or off through Apple Home without that extra hardware. Second, the app setup is frustrating. It requires extensive device permissions to function, including smart home data, and is difficult to operate without creating an account. The app also suffers from frequent connectivity glitches due to the lack of WiFi, making the experience frustrating. Finally, there are notable quality control issues. The base of my unit was not flat, causing the light to lean constantly. Upon inspection, I found a screw that was not screwed in all the way, causing the base to bulge on one side. This is unacceptable for a light at this price point. Even after tightening the screw, the base remains unstable and top-heavy. On the positive side, the light effects look great once configured. The light modes are creative and visually impressive. However, without a hub, you must wait for the Bluetooth connection to pair every time you open the app, which can conflict with other Bluetooth accessories like earbuds.
