I began bleaching and coloring my own hair at home during the pandemic and I needed a bond building product that would lessen the bleach’s drying effects on my hair. I take my naturally light brown hair to a banana peel shade in order to prepare it for the color of my choice in the next step. Since determining to revamp my entire beauty routine to cruelty free products, I was delighted to discover pH Plex, a value priced Olaplex dupe that is sold to anyone like me who is not a licensed beautician. (Olaplex allows customers to purchase the third step product to take home from the salon for repair use between colors, but non-beauticians cannot buy steps one or two, used in the actual bleach and color process.) With pH Plex, I can purchase all three steps to use 1) with my bleach mixture, 2) after bleaching to restore condition and softness and 3) repair treatments in between colors.     • Step 1 pulls A LOT of red! PH PLEX

I have to voice my dismay with just step 1 of this product. I changed absolutely nothing EXCEPT I added step 1 to my color mix. Same color, etc. The red it pulled was immediately evident. I don’t know chemistry so not a clue why this happened but I will not be using this again. I HATE red in my hair. HATE IT! The results I got made me irritated. Thank God I just had a small touch up to do. My hair dresser uses the Olaplex bonding in her mix for my hair and it comes out perfect. Serves me right for being cheap. :( ... show more

I have mixed hair type- baby fine, medium thickness and LOTS of it. I’ve spent more money on my hair than I care to admit, and have been blonde most of my life. This product works like the $300 keratin treatments at the salon!! I’ve tried everything to get the softness back into bleached hair, and nothing has worked the way this does. Not placenta packs, keratin, deep conditioning oils, NOTHING!! Nobody can beat this, and that’s why I don’t want to tell you.
