Description

When it comes to ascending fixed lines, nothing rivals the Petzl Croll Chest Ascender for speed and efficiency. When used in conjunction with a chest strap (Petzl Torse) and a basic handled ascender, the Croll simply slides up the rope as you make upward progress. The self-cleaning slot allows the stainless steel cam to perform on frozen or dirty ropes, and the compact nylon trigger allows for quick manipulation of the device.

  • Great chest ascender for 8-11mm rope
Color: Orange Size: One Size
This is for 8-11mm rope. It’s easy to use and setup on a chest and waist harness with locking carabiners. It’s smooth and grips my 8mm rope VERY well. It’s good to note that a chest ascender should be used in conjunction with another ascender (hand or foot). One little thing I’d like added is a bit bigger thumb release lever, but it does it’s job really well. ... show more

  • Good ascender
I don't have much to compare it to, as this is the only chest ascender I've used. It feeds smoothly and grips well. I like that the carabiner holes are large enough to slide the gate of a locker through. My only gripe is that it's a little tricky to remove from the rope. The black lever could be a little easier to grip. I tend to grab it to take it off, slide it up the rope a little, and then the lever slips out of my hand and bites the rope again. It's not a big deal once you get used to it, but it's a little awkward at first. I never had this problem with the Petzl hand ascenders. Other than that it's a great product. ... show more

  • Good for arborists
Color: Orange Size: One Size
Using this at knee level to replace a full size hand ascender that was gouging my leg and needlessly reducing the length and thus the available stretch from the HAAS type tending bungee. Lucky for me that I encountered someone else who was using one of these for a knee ascender, so I avoided the mistake of buying a Basic for this purpose, since my climbing lines are 1/2", which the Basic can't accommodate. Guess the Basic is for sports use. - The Singing Arborist ... show more

  • A nice rope grab, but a bit bulky
Color: Orange Size: One Size
It's easy to use with one hand. I bought it to couple with the Torse, but I find that I can't get the rig well enough attached to me that when I ascend a rope it just easily slides up by itself. Maybe I just need more ascending practice. It's a great rope grab, but a bit bulky to carry around for such purposes when Canyoneering. I prefer the Ropeman II, tibloc, or MicroTraxion. ... show more

  • Great product
I have used this croll several times already. I have absolutely no complaints. Petzl makes great products anyway and I feel confident trusting my life with this ascender. It's smooth on the climbs, grabs quickly and doesn't slip. I have used this in Rusty's Cave and Cemetery pit in Fox mountain, and Case cave in Cloudland Canyon, as well as several practice climbs at various heights. I would recommend this product to anyone. ... show more

  • good working equipment
this ascender works great and replaces the Croll Basic with ease. the only thing negitave I can say about this is that a 12 mm rope has a tough time sliding through. I know who uses a 12MM rope? Search and rescue that who. but on a 10.5 mm rope it works fantastic

meant for 11mm. That's important to note. It does squeeze onto half inch though. Works as intended and is only 2x the price of the same thing from a different manufacturer.

  • A very handy device, when ascending using SRT.
Color: Orange Size: One Size
Extremely versatile device. You can use this to build your own knee-ascender, or use it as a chest ascender. Or buy two, and do both! :D
