I bought the original model when it first came out and it works fabulously well but this is an improvement. The orange part is spring loaded and might someday break. If it does it will continue to work like the old model so there is no risk there.

This ultra-light stainless steel device, when used in conjunction with the proper equipment, will make self-rescue and ascents a breeze. Weighing in at a scant 35 gm (1.24 oz.), you won't even notice it on your climbing harness. And, did I mention that it is compatible with 8 to 11mm rope? Now that is versatility! Pro Tip: Tie a loop of small diameter cord such as 1.5 or 2mm (1/16 - 3/32 in.) through the small opening on the side to allow for clipping into a carabiner. (see photo of my Tibloc). ... show more

This tibloc is great for arborists in the arena of work positioning. It is not so great when used for ascending. It is a handy little tool. Kind of light and looks like something that can’t be thrown in a bag because you might crush it. Other than that it will hold my weight. I’m 198 and with gear I’m well over that.
