We tried to use them to hold sailboat halyards but the line just slipped thru the clutch. This item does not have teeth like the ones we used in the pass so had to return them to Amazon.

It does its job. I didn't even have to go through the Hassel of cutting out the steel cable since this was a little cheaper. It's a little slippery on 11.7mm at times. Better for worn in ropes like making lanyards out of retired lifelines that aren't out of age yet.
