Description

AOKWIT Tree Climbing Gear - Engineered for Critical Vertical Performance Master heights with confidence using AOKWIT professional rope ascender. Machined from 7075-T6 aerospace aluminum, this device combines extreme strength (220lb/100kg load-rated) with minimal weight – your essential partner for climbing, caving, industrial work, or DIY aerial projects. How It Performs Under Pressure? Auto-Locking Cam: The heat-treated magnesium alloy cam bites into rope fibers when loaded, creating a failsafe grip that intensifies with weight. Note: The acute cam angle provides maximum holding power but is NOT designed for high-impact falls. Swift Deployment: Flip-open side plates attach to ropes instantly – no threading needed. Lock in seconds during ascents, work positioning, or emergency self-rescue. Optimized Rope Range: Best performance on 10-12mm ropes. While compatible with 8mm, rigorous testing confirms 10-12mm prevents slippage and minimizes sheath deformation. Real-World Applications "Saved me during a tree stand fall!" – User "Perfect rappel backup that won't jam like Prusiks" – User "Holds securely while cutting branches 60ft up" – User Ideal For: Top-rope solo climbing ascents Arborist work positioning Roof access/construction safety Caving & canyoneering rope management Firefighter/technical rescue training Critical Safety Notes ⚠️ THIS IS NOT A FALL-ARREST DEVICE. • Not a fall arrest device. Use as a belay. Do not exceed specified limits.
Color: Black
This climbing equipment is a classic example of "you get what you pay for." The product description includes a disclaimer stating that it is not a fall arrest device, which is crucial to note. While I plan to use this ascender to assist with my ascent, I would not rely on it for life-saving purposes. The ascender does function as intended, but it feels somewhat cheaply constructed, exhibiting flex in ways that raise concerns about its reliability when used alone. On a positive note, the finish is quite nice, standing out as a highlight of an otherwise questionable device. Overall, I would recommend this ascender as a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive options. It holds my weight within the specified limits, but I won't test its failure point. I can easily see it failing if overloaded. If you decide to use this product, please heed the disclaimer and avoid using it as a standalone safety device. ... show more

  • Not bad for non-lifeline rope.
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. I got this for my kids to use in our back yard. This rope ascender works by pinching the rope between a spring-tensioned lever and a metal block. When ascending, the rope glides through the opening and when downward force is applied, the rope pinches. The harder you pull, the tighter it gets. This works well on my 8mm and 1/2inch ropes, any large diameter ropes will not be effective on this design. This product is only rated up to 100kg, for adults this is a no-go. For my smaller kids this works well with helping them to climb a tree mounted rope and helps them to learn about rope management. They stay at a fairly low height so its not life threating if something were to happen. I’ve also used this a couple times while I was working on my roof as a fall arrestor. It was useful to keep my lines tight and hold my partial weight while standing on my roof. ... show more

  • Reasonable Value Safety Back Up
Color: Blue
Weighs 3.2 ounces (91g) is service rated for maximum of 100kg (220lbs). I suggest this not be used to provide stand-alone fall protection. In my opinion, this rope grab style ascender is a reasonable value for secondary safety duties. Hole for carabiner attachment is roughly 5/8 inches (16mm). There were no instructions provided with the unit I received for review. Photo shows U.S. Quarter Dollar for sizing comparison. I hope my comments and photo grabbed your attention and were beneficial in your consideration of this item. Thanks for checking in! ... show more

  • Many better products out there.
Color: Silver
To heavy. Very hard to regulate rope speed.

  • Ascending greatness
Color: Blue
This is a great learning tool for the price. It doesn't appear to be UIAA certified but that isn't an issue when you it on a training wall. It is well made and feels the rope just fine.

  • Great Value!

  • Broke very easily.
Color: Blue
Within 10 minutes of me fiddling with it the thing broke in my hands. There is a lever/arm which is spring loaded. The spring keeps the lever pushing in the direction of your rope. While examining the ascender I worked the lever arm, and rotated it both in the direction it is supposed to go and in the opposite direction. This seems to have broken or disconnected the spring and there is no longer any spring action and the ascender is now garbage. I don't think that should happen. I've never owned or used an ascender like this before, but I think something you rely on to keep you from falling a great distance should be more durable than this. I really think climbing gear should be purchased only from reputable companies like petzl. ... show more

  • Simple and works.
Color: Black
This operates very well. It is a simple design and when used properly slides up the rope and grabs the other direction. It has a nice variety of rope sizes for flexibility of use. So very simple design there is less to go wrong. It can be put on a tensioned rope. These types of ascenders (even named brands) have a very low load capacity, (220 lbs/100kg / 1kN) That is pretty much one person's weight. Do not mistake this for a fall arrest device. Notice how most climbing equipment is rated at over 20 times that. When I see so many climbing shots not using this device at all, I have questions. I guess it is better than fake AI shots however. I still like it, not going to trust it 100%, but that is why we back everything up. ... show more
