The overall quality is good but the supplied latch is useless. Even is it fit the thickness of the door frame, who wants to bend down to the floor level to pull a pin every time you want to go in or out. They should provide a surface mount cam-lock latch w/ screws. Also, the plastic pet door should have tensioner plastic strips inside the groves so the door stays where you put it rather that having to remove it and set it aside! I used a couple of zip ties to fill the gap and it works great.

Fits perfect into sliding door. It’s not as sturdy,but for the price i expected that. I have the benefit of living on a second floor and guard so I’m not worried about being broken into. Plus neighbors and I have cameras anyways. For a house back door I would get something sturdier. This could easily be kicked in.

I used no hardware. I love the expandable top that makes it fit on almost anything. If I fault anything is the weather seal that came with it. At least that can be purchased separately and cheaply. I loved that it does not need hardware because there was no way I doing anything to my expensive patio door. I did have to cut a notch in the side of it to fit over the hooks that hold my screen on my particular patio door. With new weather seal which I put only on the pet door I was in business. Beats having the birds and bees stumble into a cracked patio door for the pets.

Make sure you don't use your basic, first timer tools... you need a strong power drill and durable drill bits. I had 1 drill bit snap in half and because I didn't have all the correct and strong tools, it took me hours to do by myself. However, I love the item itself. Glass is strong and thick enough, the door fits perfect for my toy dogs. I absolutely love the great quality of the product including the door magnet. Besides the instillation, its worth buying. If instillation is a skill you are good at, this job is easy breezy for you.
