  • Works Awesome
Bought this to try it out and it is awesome

  • I was not optomistic but I as wrong!! It worked great!
My 1996 Rayco stump grinder is in need of a new coat of paint. I had been using my angle grinder to strip old paint and rust but that was slow going and it's hard to get into cracks and crevices. I bought this kit thinking it was worth a try but I was not very optomistic. Today I put the parts together which took maybe three minutes, stuck the tube that sucks up the sand in a bag of black sand from Menardsfor $12, and fired up the pressure washer. My pressure washer is a Honda, 3000 psi. It took at most five minutes to blast down to the bare metal on the section you see in the pic. The other pic is the other side that I had already been grinding on, to show you what I took off with the sand/pressure washer. I did this section and another one a bit bigger and it used up my 40 pound bag of sand. I plan on trying some mason's sand which is only $4 a bag to see if that will work as good. I am a do-it-yourself guy and I endorse this kit 100%, especially at $30. ... show more

  • I eventually figured out how to get this to work good.
If you use this product in conjunction with Quickcrete Premium Play Sand you will have great results as long as you follow these simple steps. Step 1.) Get a couple dollar store strainers. The bowl shaped strainers with holes smaller that the tip outlet hole on the sand blaster. Step 2.) Stack the strainers bowls. Pour sand through strainer into bucket. Remove all pebbles bigger that the tip of sand blaster. Step 3.) Cover your sand bucket with a plastic bag while sand blasting to keep the sand nice and dry. Step 4.) Regularly adjust the sand intake in the bucket to keep sand flow into the intake. ... show more

  • Complete junk
I have a 2500 psi pressure washer and I wanted to sandblast my frame for my truck. Not with this thing doesn't suck up sand at all. I put my thumb over the suction side and there was nothing. What a waste of money and time.

  • Dry dry sand
Any moisture at all and your done. It also gets moisture in line from pressure and blocks. Buy extra nozzles, they wear quick. It really is a 2 person job, 1 pressure washing and 1 managing the sand intake wand. When working it’s decent, but very spotty. Lay sand on tarp to dry in sun. I used a 5 gal bucket, but to get any run time, need a much larger sand container. You won’t just be able to stick tube in sandbag. I bought 4 different types just to see if I could get one dry enough. One even stayed in sun on pallet, no dice. For small jobs will work. I was removing coatings from pool concrete. ... show more

  • Works great – but makes a mess!
I have just used this one time to clean off some large rusty old industrial flywheels that I got at a yard sale and it worked impressively fast with my little 1100 psi electric pressure washer. Got the parts down to bare metal quickly and without all the dust of regular sandblasting. However, if you’ve ever used a pressure washer, you know that water does spray just about everywhere when you are cleaning — when you use this all that spray has some sand in it also. So you don’t want to use this anywhere near your house or in your driveway unless you want a big cleanup job — definitely only use it somewhere where you will not mind having a coating of sand everywhere. Also, the sand must stay absolutely dry for this to work. Make sure your sand bucket is not anywhere near where you are working because a little water in there will jam this right up. It will go through a 5 gallon bucket of sand in under 15 minutes. I will update this review. If I run into any issues next few times I use it but currently a five star item. ... show more

  • Worked surprisingly well.
I am surprised how well this worked. When I bought this I had very low expectations. I have lot of experience with abrasive blasting using an air compressor and a cabinet. I've torn apart my air compressor to rebuild it. But without a working air compressor like couldn't abrasive blast the parts to properly prepare them for paint. Power washing would not remove the grime and old paint. Then I saw this Selkie Pressure Washer Sandblasting Kit. Not expecting much, I thought I'd give this a try. I hooked it up to my 3400 PSI pressure washer. I used very dry sand but couldn't get it to work. After 30 mins of failed attempts I finally realized that it was sucking the sand up so fast that the sand had packed tightly into the hose and clogged it. Once I cleared the clog out of the hose, Voila, this thing worked like a champ. I got my compressor pump sandblasted Clean and ready for paint prep. Of course it left a wet surface which creates some flash rust. Quick treatment of phosphoric acid removes the rust and preps the metal to receive paint. ... show more
