  • Our 2nd one!
Style: Plastic Size: Large
this is our second one (we sold our home) the first one was several years old and still in good shape. they are not hard to install if you are comfortable using a jig saw. the instructions say you should take the door off the hinges, i did not. it helps to have 2 people when trying to line the screws up. if your not great with a caulk gun use tape (trust me). cant imagine not having a doggy door now well worth the time and money. ... show more

  • Great weather protection
Style: Plastic Size: Large
Has three flaps which is fantastic. Last year the temps got -20 and my outside flap shattered. I bought this unit to replace my old door. Install was easy but I installed through a wall so the screws didn’t work as I was attaching directly to the wall. Short screws worked perfect.

  • The product is weatherproof but not the dogs...lol
Style: Plastic Size: Large
Love the pet doors - we are spoiled as well as our dogs as they have access to the fenced yard anytime they need or want and we don't have to worry about getting home to let them out. The extra foam flap is a benefit as we live in Alaska and need the extra weather protection. My only wish is that they had a slide in block for the door (like the single door) when it is not needed. The plastic cap just isn't enough (put on one side - inside the door - could use one on the outside as well) as the dogs don't know when it is up (hidden on the inside) and will scratch and paw at the outside flaps to get back in. SO! if anyone has a solution to this - that would be very cool. ... show more

  • I need to find a new brand
Style: Plastic Size: Large
I have bought 4 of these in the last 5 years and I am getting tired of this brand. For the price, I expected them to last way longer. I have 4 dogs and they will get bored (especially when it's raining) and just sit and chew the door flaps and weather shield. The flaps and weather shield are not durable. My house it now full of spiders and mosquitos because they all just come in through the holes. The closing panel is also a joke! Every dog I have will just go up to it and pull it off with their paw with one swipe. There is nothing to lock it over the door. It just sits there. I keep buying the replacements for the middle since I already have special cut holes for the doors. It is a royal pain to switch out the flaps. It usually take me and my husband to do it because it is pretty much impossible for one person to do alone. We have had to replace the flaps about year since we bought this door and it is so expensive for the work it takes to put them on and the small amount of time they last. The pictures attached are from one of the doors that we just replaced about 12 months ago and we also have a second one in our home that looks exactly the same. Someone needs to come up with a stronger design. ... show more

  • Great pet door
Style: Plastic Size: Large
Of all the pet doors I've had over the years this one is by far the nicest. My golden age and both if my cats immediately used it. I like the insulation.

  • 4th Door over the last 20 Years
Style: Plastic Size: Large
Had to replace my big box purchased doggie exterior door as my dogs broke the plastic top off a few years ago. They broke it so only on plastic flap was still working. Purchased the large and it matched the big box installed doggie door. Taking the old door off was simple. I did buy a can off of 1 inch great stuff and filled the open interior of the door to improve insulation. The challenge with the new door was due to 3 reasons. 1) the black interior flaps were nearly impossible to install and have the plastic screws reach through to tighten. The big box store used metal screws (8/32 size about 4 inches). I attempted to cut the black flaps to the the ones that came off. No luck. 2) the plastic screws were not long enough. I went to 2 ace hardwares, Home Depot and a Menards and could not find a 8\32 size screw longer than 3 inches. I elected to Gerry rig and glue the door to n without the black flaps within the petsmart door as instructed. The screws were then able to reach through (I probably should have cut the black plastic flaps more than I did). I put some firm styrofoam on the bottom and side for a firm fit to the flaps. 3) the manufacturer needs to redesign the way we have to attach the 3 flaps to the plastic brace. This required a second set of hands if you have them. I used tape to hold in place to install but a better design to snap and hold in place would help. Also the plastic piece with 5 holes to support the flap installation need to be made of sterner plastic or even metal. On my old door that I replaced my dogs broke this and tightening the screws in this door you cans see if you tighten with a power tool screw driver you can break the plastic Overall it was a challenge and I know previous installation s on a solid wood door was a lot easier. Also I recommend you buy 10 - 8/32 screws from McMaster carr if you are replacing a big box door doggie door. You can then cut the excess metal off. ... show more

  • Stops hot air from coming in.
Style: Plastic Size: Large
We have had a PetSafe Dog door for 15 years. This year we decided to replace it with the Extreme Weather Energy Efficient dog door. It works great at keeping the AC cooled air from escaping (we live in Florida). I would have given it a 5 star but the security door that closes the dog door is an issue. Our old one had a groove and you just slid the security door into place when you wanted to close it. This Extreme Weather one has a hard plastic one that snaps into place. It is VERY difficult to unsnap! There is not enough room to get a grip between the tab to unsnap it and the door. Even my husband has a hard time unsnapping it. ... show more

  • Dogs love it
Style: Plastic Size: Large
Never had a doggy door before but having this is awesome for our dogs and they love it. They only hard part for me was cutting the hole in my door but that was expected considering I never have done anything like that before. Plus I decided not to take my door off when installing it. Other then that everything else went pretty smoothly. I did have to take off the insulated flap and the inside flap to teach my dogs to go through it easier. Once they got use to it I added it back on and its very good at keeping the heat out. ... show more
