What is the recommended ambient temperature for using the automatic cat feeder? For optimal cooling and food preservation, we suggest using the feeder in environments between 53°F–86°F (12°C–30°C). While most people likely use it for scheduled feeding, we purchased it to help manage our dog’s epilepsy medication—and it has exceeded every expectation. Our dog was diagnosed with epilepsy four months ago, and after some trial and error, her vet determined she needed to take her medication every 8 hours instead of every 12. Since both my husband and I work full time outside the home, giving her a mid-day dose wasn’t feasible. I spent a great deal of time researching solutions and came across the PETLIBRO feeder. I’m so glad I did. Each week, I pre-wrap her pills in pill pockets and organize them in a labeled daily pill case. Every morning and evening, I load the appropriate pill pockets into the feeder bowls for her scheduled 6am, 2pm, and 10pm doses. At each set time, the feeder sounds a chime to notify her it’s “treat time,” and she goes right over to eat her pill—no supervision needed. The app allows me to confirm that each compartment opened and even shows how long she stayed at the bowl. I also use a pet camera as additional monitoring, but this feeder has been incredibly helpful for monitoring her when we’re not home. She learned quickly to respond to the alert, annd she is not a smart dog. The training process was very simple once she realized there was a treat on the other side of the compartment and she has even taken to being near the bowl at the appropriate times. This has truly been a game changer for us. It’s given us peace of mind and helped us stay consistent with her medication schedule, which is critical for managing her condition. I purchased the wet food feeder. Works great until there is an app update. Then you have to reset the machine, reinstall the app and reconfigure all the feeding times and information. I have had this feeder for 12 months and I have had so many issues that it has bee unplugged for more time than it has been plugged in. I travel for work, and this system is unreliable. Plan to have someone available to feed your pet on a regular basis, because if there is an app update or a machine update, your pet will not get fed. The feeder door has had issues with opening and closing. They say they have a straightforward warranty process that is hassle-free. LIE!! LIE!! LIE!! I have contacted PetLibro for issues over 3 times. Finally, I get the machine working and they say, they are unable to process a refund or issue a prepaid label because it was purchased through Amazon. Because your machine is now connected, it would not be a quality-related return. This machine is junk and one of the worst purchases of my life. ... show more

Works fine. I had no issue setting up the unit and connected to the app via wifi. However the unit doesn't keep the food very cold. Maybe the plastic food tray is the culprit? I keep my home at 73F all the time. I would suggest to put the wet food in the fridge to keep it cold before you put into the unit. The unit also is quite tall, so I placed three piece of woods on the ground so my cat can reach into the bowl easier. It would help if the dish is shallower. I thought what the heck. We camp and travel doing many 2 nights to four night trips and take one cat but leave one home as they will kill each other if we keep them together. The one is fine with us going as long as we talk to her on the Blink security system and check in. She likes her wet food and so I thought I'd give it a try. I particularly like how it keeps the food cool. The electronic interface is intuitive and easy to use and does what it is supposed to. The only thing I might suggest is a recordable message instead of the chime to let them know its open. I have a dry food dispenser that I can do a message on that goes off when the food drops. Just a quibble. Not a big deal. They are cats... So, the programming. I've got it down now. I was doing one long open for eating four hour thing once a day approach at first but you can repeat up to a three day cycle. The food is kept chilled until it opens and so different from others that don't cost a fortune, the cat gets fresh food. I thought the pan for the helpings was stainless but it's plastic, but that also is not a big deal and I can see why that may have changed. As far as programming goes. I now program it so it opens multiple times a day for short periods like an hour. You can repeat the cycle so when one up to three day programmed cycle is over it will start again the next day. Or you can do a full three time open cycle in one day then repeat it. For a three day trip this keeps the wet food fresher and it keeps a bit more interaction going. I give this a big thumbs up. I had high hopes for this automatic cold cat food feeder, but it’s a major letdown—it simply doesn’t get cold enough to keep food safe. There’s a tiny divot in the back of the machine where it does get chilly, dropping below 40°F. Great, right? Except that’s the only spot. The rest of the compartment—where the actual food sits—hovers around 53°F at its coldest. I’ve been testing this thing obsessively since I got it, even using a thermostat with a probe to confirm. The wet food you put in? It’s sitting at 53°F, no better. This isn’t just disappointing—it’s dangerous. We’ve seen other automated pet gadgets harm pets, and this one feels like a ticking time bomb for making cats sick. Cats usually rely on their sharp sense of smell to avoid bad food, which might explain why so many reviews mention their cats refusing to eat from it. According to FDA guidelines, meat at 50°F stays safe for only about 2 hours. This feeder doesn’t even hit that mark, so forget the “3 days of freshness” they promise—it’s more like a couple hours, tops. Update 5/28 I decided to reach out to Petlibro on all of the social networking messaging I could think of. Finally got a hit on Facebook Messenger. Within 10 minutes the support rep read through all of my cases and refunded me the purchase price via Amazon gift cards, as I live at an international address and Petlibro could not ship internationally while Amazon can. This was an acceptable method as far as I was concerned. I was very pleased the rep didn't ask me to go through all the troubleshooting again. It was disappointing that the white feeder is no longer available. I also decided to upgrade to the stainless steel tray feeder hoping it is slightly more advanced. There was a coupon that made it only $20 more because apparently I feel the need to give Petlibro even more money after this... I've updated my 1-star review to 3-star. The product did still fail after 3 months. I'll come back 6 months after I get the new product and consider a higher rating if it's still working as expected. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Original review It worked perfectly for three months, then it started to malfunction. In short, about 30 minutes before feeding time, the tray rotates from a refrigerated location to the feeding location so the food warms up. I opened a support request with Petlibro and traded about three messages almost right away. They asked me to try several troubleshooting steps, which did not resolve the issue. They asked me to record and send a video of the behavior. After I did that, there was no response from support for four days. I asked for a follow-up via email every day and have not heard back. I have opened up new support requests, and so far, there has been only one response, but no follow-up. The warranty should be valid for one year, and we are within that window. No phone number is listed, so you cannot speak to a human. When the device works, it is an ideal solution. Unfortunately, neither the technology nor the support seem reliable. I’ve now completed my Petlibro trio — soft food feeder, hard food feeder, and the newest addition, the water fountain — and I couldn’t be happier. Soft Food Feeder (Polar): This one is a game changer for wet food. It keeps my cat’s food fresh all day without any ice packs, and the app control makes feeding so convenient. I no longer have to rush home or worry about spoilage. Dry Food Feeder: Reliable, consistent, and super easy to set up. It dispenses the right amount of kibble every time, and I like the voice recording feature so my cat hears a familiar sound at mealtime. I purchased this automatic cat feeder two weeks ago, and I am extremely frustrated with the entire experience. I cannot tell you how many times I have attempted to connect it to my Internet. I have 2.5G like required. I even bought a range extender to help with the connection. After spending over an hour on the phone with my internet provider, they gave up, unable to figure out why it wouldn't connect. I even have a tech friend come over to try and they gave up as well. I attempted to reach customer service, but there is no real support — just automated replies. I followed all their troubleshooting steps, watched the instructional videos, but nothing worked. To make matters worse, after trying everything, the cat feeder stopped turning on altogether. It hasn’t been used/touched this whole time. I replaced the batteries with brand new ones, and still, it won't power up. This product is incredibly frustrating, and it's clear that it's not worth the hassle. I had high hopes for this device, but it's been nothing but a headache. I'm returning it and won't be looking back.
