I made my cat a house of out wood insulation rafters etc and I was thinking of making my own heater either with diy peltier devices (the same thing small cheap mini fridges use). But decided to by this quick plug and play heater thing and I seriously love it. It keeps his 4 by 4 house warm constantly never to hot and never too cold and im comfortable that it's high enough inside although it kinda isnt (he can still sniff it but it's barley above his head high) and the metal grill to prevent touching the heating element to keep it constantly without hurting him either with high temp or hot surfaces. Was first skeptical for 100 bucks as that ain't cheap but my expectations were met and it is strong enough to beat the heat of rain! ... show more

The first thing that frustrated me with this product is that it did not come with the necessary screws to mount it on a wall. Seems like a basic thing, but I found some that would work and installed the heater. We have a full insulated, medium sized dog house, so after installing the heater I ran a test and set it on medium for a couple hours. When I came out to check the house wasn't warm at all. So I thought it's a pretty cold day, maybe I'll just turn it to high. Did that and came back a few hours later only to find the house still wasn't warm. The element was on, but it was only slight warm and barely blowing any air. I ended up returning this item since it did not work at all. ... show more

So, we have the dog house, I put a moving blanket around it then a tarp on top, then some vinyl fence panels and on top son furniture... so plenty of things, also, the house has a blanket covering the entrance so no much wind going in it. Then added this heater and this are the results on farenheit 70 degrees: it gets really hot Above 50 degrees: it gets warm and comfortable 40 to 50 degrees: its ok 30 to 40 degrees: it helps 20 to 30 degrees: dogs need to be next to it to get some warm air, inside temp rises to 40 degrees Below 20 degrees we only had a few days and couldn't see the inside temp. I have 2 huskies and they don't care, they sleep very comfortable outsie with no heat at around 20 degrees BUT I had this set up in case they wanted to sleep inside their house Honestly I was expecting more from this heather, the house is 2ft by 3.5ft and it was having a hard time when I really needed. I you dont have dogs that destroy things I would recommend the basic $20 heater ... show more
