    • It's well made and sturdy
I have had this pergola up 24/7 for 15 months in Southern California, i.e., through one summer, fall, winter, spring, and now in its second summer. I never removed the canopy because I am disabled and would be too hard/high for me (I had help putting it up). We had the highest rainfall and strong winds (maybe on record) this past winter and spring yet it shows no damage to the metal structure It was heavy enough to not fly away with the gusts of strong wind, which was what I was looking for. The canopy held rain water well enough not to tear (though occasionally i pushed the water up and out). Through all the abuse, the canopy is just now showing a few small tears where it rests on the metal below it. Think I will replace it eventually when needed with a tarp zip tied on. I get a lot of compliments on it and questions where to buy one themselves. The solar lights are delightful though I don't use them much. The plastic of the little solar panel has "clouded" over now so doesn't charge anymore. Not a big deal to me. Was a great buy IMO. ... show more

I was shopping pergolas for a while but the costs of the wooden ones, ranging between a thousand or two just wasn’t something I was willing to pay. I even thought of building my own. Then someone told me about the metal ones, I was excited to look into them. I assembled it 99% by myself (60 yr old woman). I’ve assembled hundreds of things so this didn’t scare me. I only had my son help at the end to stand up and with the top cross bars. Putting it together was easy and the directions were perfect. I absolutely love that it came with solar lights! They are awesome. There are several different ways to program the lights but I only like them on, not flickering or fading on and off. I only had two issues I had. One has nothing to do with the pergola but for insight purposes: To build this I laid all the pieces out in order son my grass starting in the morning of a hot summer day. By the time high noon came, the pieces were so hot from the sun, I couldn’t touch them. When I didn’t want to take a break any longer, I was dipping them on the pool to cool off, and kept on working. Now, for the ONLY issue I have with the actual pergola is, I am unable to attach the four ‘feet’ to the supporting poles. The way the holes were drilled, the metal sticks out and I can’t get a tight fit to screw in. I tried all four feet with each pole and they are all the same. None of them fit. I will call customer service and see what they say. Even with that said, I would definitely recommend buying this. If a nice pergola is what you want without spending thousands, this is it!. ... show more

    • Nothing holds the canopy in place
Shipping was atrocious, FEDEX destroyed the box and bent some of the metal pieces. I was able to straighten them out but this may show questionable sturdiness in the long run. After assembling we had some mild winds and while there are velcro strips that attach it to the posts the canopy is otherwise loose and would blow up like a big balloon when the wind picked up. The straps slide to the top of the posts until the wind calms then it falls back and probably needs readjustment. It would help to have something to secure the canopy either weights or tie downs. Do not leave out during high wind. As a shade though, it accomplishes its task and it acceptable, Id recommend it, just make sure you monitor that wind. ... show more

    • Many missing. Rusting bolts. Brushed off by seller.
We purchased 2 for our patio this spring. We got one assembled easily. The 2nd one was delivered late and we were not available to assemble the 2nd one until recently. We should have opened it to count the parts but trusted it was fine since the first one was assembled in an afternoon. Tried to contact the seller but my inquiries were somehow erased. Finally got a message to them but was told they could not accept it for return because of a 90 day guarantee limit. Informed the seller that we just want the parts and was given the brush by the seller’s customer service agent stating they wouldn’t accommodate that request either. The bolts have already started to rust on the assembled pergola. Also, the canopy fills with rain and sags between the rails. Noticed that this product is no longer available. Probably will save others the disappointment we experienced. My wonderful husband is finding and fabricating parts to make it work but we’ll probably not have these nearly as long as the one we purchased from Lowes over 8 years ago. We will not purchase from this seller in the future and are hesitant to make any large purchases like this again through Amazon. ... show more
