UPDATE I've definitely noticed performance improvements. When I step on the gas I can actually feel the power now. Gas mileage has gone up a little. I'd say anywhere around 2 to 5 miles a gallon. Also this will make your truck louder. I have a magnaflow exhaust system installed on a 4.2l v6 and it sounds similar to a V8 now. When I get it up in 5th gear and am going around 60-70 mpg it's loud. Be aware. All in all still, I recommend this for a quick and simple performance upgrade to any vehicle. Great product. Relatively easy install. I recommend watching a few videos before you try to install. The instructions that do come with this are two pieces of paper with bad pictures. So that's not good but if you take your time and be prepared before hand you should be fine. Since I just installed today I can't talk about performance improvements or gas mileage increas but I will add later. Overall i am pleased with the product and suggest if you're looking for a "cold air" intake for a 4.2l ford f150 this is the one to get.

Installation was easy & almost totally simple. 4.2 V6 has been driven over 8,000 miles & everything works perfectly. Truly has performed better than expected. Someone mentioned its exposed air filter once it becomes dirty will cause problems. As of today, never cleaned nor observed any major dirt or debris on filter. If your original air-housing is damaged or needs replacement, this is an excellent choice.

Installed on 1997 Ford F-150 2wd, 4:10 gears, Detroit Locker differential. I give this cold air intake 5 stars because it was exactly as described and looks nice and clean under the hood. Can't say that I noticed a power improvement or difference in fuel economy. You can hear more airflow when you shower down but it isn't excessively loud. I did notice that the engine idles much smoother. My truck has the original 4.2 engine with 480,000 miles so I'm not sure that I will notice any increase in power. The original equipment air intake was dry rotted. That was reason for replacing, not for performance.

Easily Installed on 2002 4.2l f-150. I removed some left over casting snot from inside the rubber tube and supported the filter end with an exhaust clamp but it made a big preformance difference.

This cold air intake replaced an old K&N unit that was made of plastic or rubber that was degrading. It was easy to install and looks much better under the hood than the old one. I did have to put a few turns of electrical tape around the stem of my temp sensor to get it to seal better, it's not really a fault of the grommet. Update, After driving for a week or so my truck started losing power. Cold starts were sputtering as the engine struggled to get air. I replaced the air filter and the power returned. I don't regret buying this but wish it had come with a better quality, high-flow air filter.

Description indicated it will fit my vehicle and it did not. The Throttle Body bolts do NOT align. Although it is my fault that I did not get to install the intake until after the 30 day return period, I wrote to the seller to let them know the description is incorrect and hoping to get a refund or correct replacement, and never received a response. Buying cheap is not always the best practice. Shame on me!!
