  • Not made of plastic
Style: Filter
This filter cartridge is not made of vinyl or plastic which can break. Spend the extra couple of dollars for peace of mind.

  • Rattling inside?
Style: Filter
The filter rattles like something is broken or loose. I ran the water through it for 15 minutes after installing. After a couple of weeks it still produces a lot of air making the water look milky until it clears up. I replaced the same filter brand and model that didn’t seem to have the issue. I don’t care about the air bubbles, but want to be sure it’s filtering properly. ... show more

  • Good filter
Style: Filter
Great filter! I had 1 that my plumber installed and it lasted over a year. The water still tasted fine but I was a little concerned after the 1 year mark so I replaced it. Removal and installation of the filter were relatively easy. The price does seem like a lot at first glance but if you divide it over 12 months, it's more affordable than bottled water or Pur filters. FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION TIPS Several notes on installation: 1) Put a bucket or a large towel under the filter to catch any water drips from the filter when removing the old and installing the new filter. 2) Push the filter fully into the housing and then turn it counter-clockwise until it locks. (Judge the amount of twist based on how much it took you to untwist the old filter.) Be sure to click on the latch before turning on the water. I did not twist the cartridge enough and had a little flood after I turned on the filter. Make sure you run the filter for 15 minutes to flush out any trapped air and residue. Put a label with the installation date so you remember to change the filter before 12 months have passed. I also have trouble removing the filter from the housing. I was advised to use a strap wrench to have more leverage and add some silicone-based o-ring lubricant around the threads to reduce the friction and prevent o-ring from bunching up. The strap wrench worked and I was able to remove the old filter. We were concerned about using a non-food grade silicone lubricant so we used a bit of vegetable oil instead. Hope these tips will help you. NOTE ABOUT THE CHEAPER BUT INTERIOR S-104 FILTER - AVOID AT ALL COST! I initially replaced my H-104 filter with the S-104 to save $10. According to the specs, the only difference is the H-104 reduces lime and scales but all of the filtration specs is the same for both filters. THIS WAS A MISTAKE! 6 months later, the water tasted worse than unfiltered water. So, I called Everpure to trouble-shoot. I was told that I need to replace the filter as it is likely "full" and thus not filtering properly (eventhough there is no change in the flow). How is that possible since the old H-104 had lasted over a year with the same water usage pattern??? So, I asked whether there is any warranty for this issue as the filter is supposed to last about a year and it's non-operational after 6 months. I was told there is no warranty for the longevity of the filter. So, in saving $10, I wasted $50. This is a raw deal for a seemingly more economical option. Do not buy the S-104 filter! ... show more

  • The first unit we received leaked. The replacement worked fine.
Style: Filter
The first Pentair we received leaked when installed. Pentair customer service suggested we first try moving the "O" rings from the old filter (which was not leaking) to the new filter. That failed, but also at the suggestion of Pentair, we initiated a replacement on Amazon. Within 24 hours Amazon sent us a new Pentair filter which did not leak and delivers fresh tasting water. ... show more

  • Good product that caused a minor flood in my kitchen
Style: Filter
This is the second Everpure cartridge I've installed, including the initial filter. The last time I replaced it 1-2 years ago, everything went well. For some reason this time I could't get the new cartridge seated properly. It was hard to tell when it was fully installed. It looked all right and worked fine for a couple of hours, and then my wife asked me why the dishwasher was running (it was off). Flood in the kitchen! More fiddling didn't help. The next morning I called the man at tech support, who was INCREDIBLY patient and helpful. This time it went in properly and has worked fine ever since. I'd recommend to Everpure that they improve their cartridge installation instructions to include some of the hints the tech support guy provided. Here are some of the things I learned: 1. Be sure the water valve on the cartridge head is off (it has to rotate a full 180 degrees) and the filtered water faucet is open to drain the system before changing the cartridge. After an initial splash, no water should flow. Leave the faucet open. 2. Two ridges on the cartridge casing have to pass by two matching ridges on the filter head. Feel inside the head so you know where they are. The enclosed instructions mention something about lining up a mark on the cartridge with the one on the head, but I never found any marks. The system is symmetrical at 180 degrees, so turning it fully forwards or back is the same. 3. BEFORE you remove the old cartridge, look at where it lines up. (My initial attempt didn't rotate it fully in, which I noticed but didn't recognize as a problem.) 4. Push the new cartridge into the head and rotate it about 60 degrees until it's home. The major risk, I found, is engaging only one of of the two ridges on the cartridge with those on the head. You can tell it's right if there's about half an inch of wobble at the bottom of the cartridge, and if it's straight, parallel with the wall. 5. Slowly turn on the valve on the filter head. Water should flow from the faucet, which you can now turn off. The cartridge bottom should no longer wobble significantly. ... show more

  • Dark water
Style: Filter
We have used ever pure for ten years. This is the first time a replacement H104 cartridge is defective. Water first ran very dark. After a gallon or two it started to clear. After a week there was still dark sediment. We stopped using the system. Even melted ice in the sink left a stain. This is awful. I ordered a replacement cartridge. Hope these are not counterfeit H104. Additional comment 1/2/2023 These pictures are of the sediments collected from our Keurig water tank. Tissue wiped very loose and recent sediments. I gave this filter a five star for its history of good filtering. This grey water is an isolated case. I expect the replacement filter to be OK, we shall see. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Style: Filter
The replacement cartridge was surprisingly easy to install and makes a nice difference in the water quality from our filter. We had put off installing a new cartridge thinking we needed a plumber and were thrilled when it was easy to do.
