I used this to acclimate my female betta into my aquarium without knowing whether she would kill the rest of my fish. It worked well but was definitely a temporary solution and not big enough to hold her permanently. I found that she was a little aggressive while in this breeder box probably because it was too small. She would flare a little and try to swim at fish that were near her box. After about half a week to a week I decided to add her to the rest of the tank. Luckily she got along with the rest of this fish and hasn't been aggressive. As far as breeder boxes go this seems to be a good value. It has good separators and design choices to protect baby fish. One of my Danios is very aggressive so I bought this to contain her. She now can swim in circles but still feel a part of the rest of the community. It is well made and hangs off the side of the tank with hooks that I made from wire. I don't use the supplied suction cups because they never work.

The suction things to keep it afloat in the tank are (not) so great. It took me 10 minutes to get a good hold on the small container to my big tank. The lid closes and I haven’t used it for fry yet but it allows water to pass through in a safe friendly way. Nice size but small REALLY IS SMALL.

I woke up this morning to find one baby guppy that soon became twelve of them! This breeding box keeps them safe from the cannibalistic adults and still allows some water flow. I would encourage dumping fresh water through it often though because the slits are small enough to keep in a day old guppy, which means they're small enough to restrict water flow quite a bit. Note: the lid has cutouts that WOULD allow the babies through so I just leave the lid off and suction the top of the box right above the waterline so they don't swim out. Love how this comes with a divider and grate for babies to fall through safely. The suction cups were kind of hard to attach to the box but that means they won't slip out. They also suction very well to the side of the tank. Lid fits very well to the top of the box and will be perfect for when I try to acclimate my Betta to my guppies without violence. ... show more

This product is not safe for fish. It was suction cupped to the side of the tank, but there was enough space that one of my males wedged him self between the tank and breeding box and died. Also the slits on the sides are big enough that the fry were able to swim out into the main tank.
