I've so far have purchased three of these pumps. They are being used with sponge filters in three of my tanks. Sixty, 75, and 150 gallon tanks. All for additional filtration. I'd suggest using them for tanks over 55 gallons or for multiple small tanks. The pump is quiet. Can support up to four air lines. And most importantly, they last. No more cheap air pumps for me. This air pump is more powerful and quieter than all the other ones. I’ve bought small ones that’s louder than this. This one is extremely quiet. Sometimes I forget it’s even running. I use it to run all 4 lines to 3 different tanks. One tank uses an air stone and a sponge filter. It’s obviously not noiseless because that’s impossible for any air pump but by far the quietest. ... show more

Don't know what the first order i received. Didn't even come with a plug, just two end wires. Got a replacement and it works well. Happy with the new pump, and has 2 output level, low and high. High is very strong.

    • Works fabulously well and super quiet for a 10 gallon aquarium tank

I know that it's considerably oversized for my 10 gallon tank, but I had it in my closet, unopened and a different low cost brand buzzing like a banshee in my kitchen. I set this Pawfly unit on "low" with its hi-low switch, connected the gang valve, and opened one of them a tad to vent a small amount of air so that my low-end need wouldn't cause too much back pressure on the pump. It worked okay except that the Pawfly pump was making a buzzing noise like the pump's exterior housing wasn't tightened correctly. I unscrewed the four Philips screws, removed the lid, and then reassembled it, firmly but not over tightening the screws. And voila! It is super silent with 1 minute of effort. Although the unit says that it was QC checked, I believe Pawfly needs to add one more check to their check! Plug it in and hold a decibel meter to it. If it's over 75dba then the lid is probably not seated correctly. I would have given this 5 stars if it hadn't violated its noise specification with an annoying buzz. But I'm super happy with the result and I'd buy it again. ... show more

I now own three of these and have been super happy with all of them. Its quiet but very strong. I can run 15-20 sponge filters without a problem with one pump.

The media could not be loaded. Bought this because I was using 2 adjustable top fin brand air pumps that started to get very loud. This was the same price as one of the other ones I had and it puts out way more air flow. It is more quite than the FX5 Canister filter I use on my aquarium. If you have one of those you know how quiet that is! Highly recommend this pump ... show more
