I use these in place of candles when the power goes out. No danger of starting a fire if they fall over or are dropped. Bright enough to play cards by! They last a long time too! Simple enough for my grandson to use - he is four. Trick is to keep him from activating the entire box! I put one in every draw in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Then several in the kitchen and living room. I also threw a few into the trunk of my car in the emergency bag with my first aid kit. They are easily seen at a considerable distance and can be used as a signaling device. I dropped one in the sink and it worked under the soapy water! These chemlights actually surprised me! I ordered these for a camping trip to mark tent guy lines, and avoid tripping over them. Plus it makes it easy to go ‘pick a tree’ and get back into the tent asleep. These were more than helpful. First, these are large enough to see from far away, they actually light up a fairly wide radius. The second notable attribute is how durable the materials are; these survived a week getting tossed around in a rubbermaid container with all of my other essentials. Due to this, plus the safety label which stated they are not toxic, I was able to let my daughters play with them (which is great because they are easy to keep track of while cooking!). So, while these are large, they pack down into an essential pack, and the polyethylene casing is sturdy. For longevity, these had a strong glow the entire first night, and were still glowing at about half the brightness the next night. The second night was bright enough to mark guy lines, but not to light up an area like the first 12hrs or so. ... show more

I bought these to keep in case if a power outage. I don't like having candles lit around the house when power goes out because I have smaller children. I have tested about half the box with the kids and the light lasted 24 hours. I like the little necklace strings that come with them. We have wore them multiple times out they are light and bright.
