Features

  • Plays DVD Discs from All Regions (0 - 8) | Plays Blu-ray Discs from All Regions (A, B, and C) | Built-in 4k NTSCPAL 4k HD Converter
  • Panasonic's 4K PRO HDR model Ultra HD Blu-ray Player features an HCX Processor for Ultra HD Blu-ray packed with original imaging technologies for stunning picture quality. The precise colors and HDR reproduction that form the essential elements of Ultra HD are the basis of high-defifinition images. They bring you a whole new viewing experience that you've never had before.
  • Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray Players support multiple HDR formats, such as HDR10, which is the standard HDR format for films, and UHD Blu-ray discs. They newly support HDR playback of HDR10+TM dynamic metadata, the next-generation standard. And they are compatible with Dolby Vison and Hybrid Log-Gamma. The synergistic effect achieved with Panasonic's original high-quality image technologies enables even more precise image expression.
  • This THX-certified model reproduces the finely nuanced colors and rich, detailed images that the film creator intended, and achieves lifelike surround sound. You can watch movies at home in comparable quality that you enjoy at cinema.
  • A newly developed base with a 3-dimensional, thick steel plate fixes the optical disc drive to the center of the 2-layer chassis to reduce vibration and noise during disc rotation. And thick aluminium is used on the front and side panels. This raises the rigidity of the chassis, and reduces vibration.
  • The analogue circuits for 2 channel and 7.1 channel output are mounted onto special glass-epoxy circuit boards. Together with the use of quality components, such as low-noise operational amplifiers and audio grade electrolytic capacitors, a totally balanced signal transmission is achieved by using differential circuits all the way from the D/A converter output to the XLR output terminal.
  • The 2 channel and 7.1 channel output terminals are also separated. Moreover, the 2 channel output is equipped with a balanced XLR output terminal in addition to the RCA terminal.

  • Excellent Player
I had a Sony UBP X800 that would jam and freeze up operation. Every time I watched a movie I would become anxious as to whether or not I'd be able to finish watching. I finally decided to try this Panasonic player. I have never owned a Panasonic before (always thinking it was an inferior brand...boy was I wrong). I have owned this player for a couple of weeks now and have not had any issues; not one single freeze up whatsoever. The build quality is excellent; almost as good as the Oppo players I own (I have at least 5). Word of warning, the player does get a little warm after a couple of hours of play. The region free part works well and is easy to do (I could never figure out the feature on the Sony). The seller (220 electronics) put a piece of paper inside the box explaining how to manipulate the switch between regions which has worked flawlessly so far (many thanks to them). In my opinion this player is well worth the triple price of the Sony. ... show more

  • Finally a quality dvd player
Yes it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. This unit does not have all of the Energy Star go to sleep after being paused for 5 min so you can poop. Picture quality is so good I had to buy a new tv to get the most out of this unit. It's heavy. It's big. It is built to last.

  • A High Tech, Expensive White Elephant
It’s now May. I ordered this machine from 220 Electronics through Amazon back in January, It didn’t get serious use until recently when I noticed that it failed to track DVD’s and CD’s that my other machines, ranging from a top-of-the-line Oppo down to a Pioneer eternal blu-ray drive for my computer, tracked flawlessly. 220 Electronics has been terrific to deal with. Even though they could not duplicate my tracking problems with the disc I sent them (as it turns out, neither could I), they sent me a replacement. Same exact problem. While trying to resolve the problem, I purchased the non-multi regional version of this model from another dealer — this time with a four year warranty, just in case. Well, it turns out that this unit has exactly the same tracking problems. So now I’ve sampled three different units of this model. ALL of them failed to track discs — DVD’s and CD’s — that my other machines tracked with no problem. I think I can say with some authority that this unit tracks far worse not only than more expensive, high-end models, but also a $250 Sony UBP-X700/M as well as a $140 (at the time I bought it) Pioneer Electronics USA Slim External Blu-Ray Writer (BDR-XU03) I’ve returned the unit to the other dealer and expect to trade in the second unit that 220 Electronics for something a bit more reliable. So far, they have been great to deal with. They have gone above and beyond. I’ll post the final resolution of all this when I’ve closed the deal with 220 Electronics, but I wanted to post this thorn among the rosy reviews posted as a caveat as soon as possible. An expensive disappointment. ... show more

  • A hit... and a miss
This machine is about like most blu-ray players. It's a toss of the dice as to how glitchy it will be and whether it will be compatible with your receiver, sound processor or other components (more on that below if you want to read that much). I've had more expensive ones and less expensive, and every one has played with glitches, frozen up and sometimes even needed to be turned off or unplugged before it would even turn loose the disc. I didn't keep this one long enough to comment much on its disc playing, but it did take a lot of attempts before it finally connected by wifi. I have made long runs with LAN cords before but didn't want to do that this time. It's plenty heavy, built like a tank, presumably with the audio, video, and power supply all partitioned off from each other. It should last a long time, but you don't love it you may wish it wouldn't. One thing audio appreciators and music lovers will notice is that Panasonic missed (or ignored) a golden opportunity by not making it compatible with DVD-Audio & SACD formats. Sure, most music is probably streamed these days - and that's fine - and we can really love listening to CD's in this player, just like with the Oppo (which I have my optical digital lines out from my 300 disc CD machines going into). Forgive my messy grammar. Those of us who are spending big bucks on this unit because we appreciate the care that they take with the audio circuitry, DAC's & dedicated XLR stereo lines out, etc. will be a large part of their target consumers though... so they should have known that the lack of support for those formats would be sorely missed. One very good positive attribute of the Panasonic is their including a full array of analog lines out for either powered speakers, multiple amplifiers, or a multi channel amp with analog inputs. However, I already have my Oppo for that so I didn't buy it for that aspect of it, just for the highly praised "hollywood cinema processor) or whatever, and the excellent build, and the possibility of using the analog outs a later time in an other configuration. Regarding compatibility - or lack thereof - with other components, my mismatch was with an Oppo bdp 105, which has inputs actually, so that you can use the superb audio circuitry not only for the discs you load in it, but for other devices from which you send it a digital format. I had been using the audio hdmi out of a Sony (which cost much less, than this one, and DOES play both of the high end disc formats mentioned above) running into the Oppo and it was a good pairing, My thinking is that I won't have to put as many miles on the Oppo when I use another player as the work-horse... which is good, because if the Oppo ever conks out I'd have to pay much more for a used one than I paid for it in the first place. In any case, to make a long story even longer, it did send some sound to the Oppo but not anything for the surround speakers/amp. I tried switching the output from PCM to bitstream and several other audio adjustments to no avail. I put the sony back in the loop and something amazing happened: the surround channels came back. For $1k I expect this blu ray player to play well with all types of audio processors, DAC's, and receivers with HDMI inputs. It should be compatible with such items dating back some years, as long as the surround can be downmixed from the latest formats to a simpler surround sound that will still be great. I would expect glitches and all... that happens with all players that I've had. I would DEFINITELY expect it to have surround adjustments, such as bass management, crossovers, large/small speaker selections, white noise generator, test tones, etc. that you need for setting up the speakers/amps/etc. which completely defeats the purpose of having all of those analog outputs putting out what should be some very high quality sound. It's as if they came to a baseball game with a soccer team. It was hit and miss. Some great and a lot not so great. ... show more

  • Awesome Blu ray Player
I have been really impressed with this UHD Blu ray player. I have had problems with the sound quality of other UHD players and was reluctant to upgrade to the Panasonic DP-UB9000 due to its high cost. We have many Blu ray titles that are not region 1 so I also wanted the multi region player version (also a much higher cost) that this company provides. Bottom line, it has really been impressive how different the sound and video quality from this player has been. ... show more
