Bought this metal detector because my son saw someone at the park using one. He got curious and asked a lot of questions so we got him a kid version. It’s super easy to use and the perfect height for a 5-7 year old kid. It’s light weight and detects the perfect amount of metal to make the experience real for him. He loves to go outside and see what he can find. We bury simple things in the ground like coins and it picks them up perfectly. The shovel and rake it comes with help with the digging and are very stable and well built. The detector itself is easy to use for him. Even at the lowest detection level it picks up quite a bit. We got this as a birthday gift and the handle length is good for a child. Calibrating it was a little tricky, but we managed to figure it out. After a few uses, the on/off knob started to spin freely. We were able to line it back up and tighten it, but it leaves us wondering if there will be future issues with construction. I purchased this for my 5 year old grandson…I had no idea they made ‘junior’ metal detector. This was a great find and my grandson loved it! I can’t speak to its use because it was a gift but it was a decent weight - not too heavy for him and the price was reasonable. I’m pleased with my purchase.
