Simply place the stopper in the spout and when you pour pan drippings into the fat separator, the strainer will separate unwanted bits and the fat will rise to the top. Remove the stopper and pour, and the flavorful cooking liquid will come out first, allowing you to leave the fat behind. The measurement markings make following recipes simple, and the splatter shield helps prevent splashing while you pour. When you’re done, this Separator is dishwasher safe, and there is a built-in storage spot in the strainer to keep the stopper so it doesn’t get lost. Available in 2-Cup and 4-Cup sizes.

Idk how I made it to 43 without figuring this one out, but here we are. Thank you, cooking shows. I love this gadget! Way better than trying to ladle out the fat from the top. Time saver. Made for perfect dripping gravy from our turkey. Loaded up the base of the roasting pan with veggies, bouillon, fresh herbs, lemon rinds and water, and cooked the turkey on a rack nestled into the pan (breast side down). The bird steamed itself tender. But then the gravy!! I loaded up all the drippings and what was left of the veggies, squished them down in the upper part (sort of a juicing if you will), let it rest for 10 mins to separate while I toasted up some butter and flour, and then poured the drippings into the pan, stopping short when I got to the oil. The gravy didn’t need any other seasoning. It was perfect as it was and delicious! Bonus, the dogs got a special fat treat on their food for the next few evenings. I opted for this model over the spout on bottom version, because I trust gravity and time will always wreak their havoc. I was worried the seal on bottom variety would fail eventually and it would be a pain to clean. With this model I was worried I’d get too much grease still in the pour, but it was clear when to stop pouring, and it was a breeze to clean. Bonus, I have an extra measuring cup between dripping uses. (I bought the 4 cup version.) This thing is great, the plug is very useful to keep fat out of the spout. The only issue is that the spout can be a bit hard to clean. Needed to get a brush to really scrub it out, however that is the same for any fat separator. I like that the lid doubles as a filter to keep bits of food out of what you are trying to separate. ... show more

I used this to separate turkey drippings to make gravy. It works incredibly well. The little rubber stopper prevent liquid from entering the spout until the fat has floated to the top, so you don't get any fat in the gravy base. The top filter helps strain out chunks of whatever. Love this thing. So easy to use. Very large. I used it on thanksgiving. And it was amazing! You have to wait for few seconds to make fat separate from the flavor. Gravy was awesome! No lumps (just keep whisking it). Made things so easy. Dont hesitate to buy. It works! Will say you have soak it in hot water/ wash it real well. Becuz it does leave a grease feel afterwards. The wide top on this pitcher/fat separator makes it a somewhat unbalanced and difficult to store, BUT the shape creates a much larger surface area when pouring, allowing the user to get almost all of the fat-free liquid out of the pitcher.
