I love the innovation - new to me - and the design. The holes are small enough that rice stays put while the water drains quickly, which makes it especially handy for rinsing rice or draining pasta without losing any of it through the bottom. The angled design of the base is what really sets it apart - you can set it on the counter so it drains straight into the sink hands-free, hold it under the faucet, or prop it in whatever position works best for the job. There just aren’t many other options out there built quite like this. This feels very solid in the hand. It's not lightweight, but not heavy either - and you can tell the construction is good quality. I especially like the extended lip around the rim; it gives you something substantial to grip instead of a thin rolled edge. Mine arrived protected by two pieces of plastic that snapped together, one over the outside and one inside, so the finish was completely flawless when I unpacked it. I’ve was anxious to test this one, and did so with rice and pasta and it worked exactly the way it should. I’m also planning to use it when I make bone broth because the small holes will catch a lot of the finer bits and keep them out of the finished stock. I am in LOVE with this colander. It makes washing rice (and other veggies) so extremely easy, no need to worry about grains falling through the holes or having to hold the rice with your hand and strain. This gets it SO clean and removes all that powdery starch right off the rice so you can put it in the pot and go. With the well-thought out design of this colander, you can set it on the side of the sink and strain it practically hands-free or set it directly in the sink if you prefer. This is just such a cool design and I think it really makes the job that much easier. This large 4qt colander is a GOD send in the kitchen. I used it last night to rinse off potatoes I had cut up that started to oxidize or get a wee bit brown because I had gotten a bit sidetracked while multi-tasking. It was so easy to toss these in the colander, rinse and get in the pan. This colander is well-made and I have no doubt it will last in my kitchen. The amount of use I will get out of this one tool will be endless and I am so excited.

Rice Washer Strainer Bowl, 4 QT Stainless Steel Colander with Side Drainer- I've never had a rice washer bowl, but I gotta say- it makes my life a bit easier. Usually I only need 2 servings of rice so a small mesh strainer works ok, but if I have to wash more than that it gets complicated. Not anymore. When I come home with the weekly shop I always wash and prep my produce (fruit gets a vinegar soak, veggies are washed and cut in preparation for whatever way I'm going to cook them) and this bowl was awesome for this. So far I've used this bowl to clean rice, lentils, blueberries, zucchini, potatoes, cherries, nectarines, and strawberries. It's marvelous. Holds just enough water to make washing easy- bowl has several flat surfaces and the water gets deep enough to wash whatever. Tilt the other way and draining occurs. Super easy. This is a beautiful bowl- stainless steel, well made with no sharp edges. This bowl is thick and will last decades. I love it.

I make a lot of rice in our home and thought this would be to have. The the right strainer is a heavy duty bowl very durable to good size made very well. I like how it is flat on the bottom in the middle and then on the bottom on each side is at an angle so it’s easy to tilt to drain the water out the only issue I had was the holes in the bowl are little too big. The rest that I have some of it was coming out when I was draining the water not a lot of rice, but I can hear the rice hitting my sink so I could tell there were some that was coming out. I will still use the strainer. It’s not that big of a deal, but the hose could be a little smaller.

I really like this product for straining anything not just Rice. It is a fairly sizable colander. I would describe it bigger than what you would use to put inside your rice cooker. The strainer is not at the bottom, allowing you to swivel water in your rice and strain it at your choosing once you tilt it that also means that there’s typically water that is left over which does make this more ideal for someone who uses it purely for Rice now if you use it for fruits and salads, you may find that to be a little annoying the appearance wise it is a solid steel bowl is very shiny ability of it is excellent. It is very hard to scratch dent and malform this product because it is made out of steel. The durability is excellent.

Even when I ordered this my first thought was “do I really need a whole new kitchen implement for washing rice?” I eat rice pretty much every day though, so I figured I would give it a try. Now I love it and I’m glad to have it. Normally I either rinse my rice in the cooker pot where I’m not having to run fresh water over it but it’s a pain to drain, or in my colander where I have to leave the water running the whole time. This neat little bowl gives the best of both. Tilted to one side, I can wash the rice without wasting water, and on the other it drains without losing rice. It’s well made and takes up about as much space as a regular strainer. If you’ve got the space in your cabinets for another bowl and you eat a lot of rice this is definitely useful.

Where has this been my whole life!? We eat rice a lot and always rinse it. We used a big mixing bowl before we had this. This is a very good sized bowl. Medium/bordering Large. Which I was really surprised about! We are a family of 8, so that size is honestly perfect for us. It has a nice appearance and the built in strainer is just perfect. The metal is lightweight but very durable. It isn't going to bend easily. I love this thing and I 100% would buy it again and again! So helpful-also-WASH YOUR RICE!
