**Background:** I've had a string light set on our porch for many years, and it finally stopped working. It was time to find a replacement, and this looked similar, so I ordered it. **Build Quality:** The build quality is about what I expected for this price point. I actually think the bulbs are a bit nicer than I anticipated, and I believe the light they emit is a very nice, warm glow that helps set the ambiance. I really like that the bulbs are plastic, but they feel like glass—they're very clear, just like real glass. **Function:** This is very simple to operate—just plug it in. It also has a receiving end on the other side, just like a string of Christmas lights, so you can string multiple ones together to get the length you need. The most important things about these kinds of string lights are, first, their durability—since you'll use them outdoors—and second, the quality of the light they emit. The main reason you're putting these up is to create a warm, inviting ambiance, and harsh lighting kills that vibe. First, I think the bulbs are very durable; whatever plastic they're using is good quality—it's clear, strong, and looks very similar to glass.
