I have used solar Brightown lights for over two years and they have always performed really well for me. The only limitation I ever had with the solar versions is that part of my yard is too shady, so I could not use the lights in all the spots I wanted. This was especially noticeable in the fall and winter when it gets dark so early and stays dark for so long. I was really happy to get this plug in version because I could stay with Brightown, which has been a reliable brand for me, and finally put lights in the shadier areas without worrying about the solar panel. The lighting quality on these is exactly what I expect from Brightown. The brightness is warm, even, and steady, and it creates the same clean glow I have gotten used to. My neighbors always compliment my lights and ask me what brand they are because they look so good. These are the very same picky neighbors who are usually the first ones to point out when something looks off, so when they stop and ask about my lights, I know the look is working. The remote control is a real highlight for me. It is a proper remote size, similar to a Roku or Fire TV remote, not one of those tiny credit card sized remotes that disappear into a drawer. It is branded Brightown, which I appreciate, and each button is clearly labeled. I do not have to decipher hieroglyphics to figure out what anything does. I can turn the lights on and off, adjust the brightness, and set the timer without guessing. I can also set them to run for 6 or 8 hours automatically. I would love a 12 hours on and 12 hours off schedule, but I have never seen a non app light that can do that. Even without that option, the functionality covers everything I actually use, and I do not have to pay the higher prices that come with smart app based lights. The ease of installation is one of my favorite parts. The feeder cord is about 6 to 7 feet long, which makes a big difference. I can plug in at ground level and still get the lights elevated cleanly without running cords up the side of anything. These are honestly the easiest lights I own to install. Another big win for me is that this string allows me to plug another Brightown string into it, just like Christmas lights, while still using only one outlet. That is a huge advantage because I plan to get another couple of strings so I can cover a larger area along the inside trellis in the front of my yard. The safety labeling on the plug and controller is something I appreciate. The electrical parts are UL and ETL certified, the power supply is a Class 2 unit that steps everything down to low voltage, and the whole setup is rated for indoor and outdoor use. The labeling is clear and complete, which gives me confidence that the electrical side of things has been tested properly. Brightown also has a US toll free support number, which is rare these days. I have never needed to call them, but it is nice knowing the option is there. For what these lights offer for me, the value for money is strong. I get the lighting quality I like, excellent safety certifications, the look that even my picky neighbors like, and the reliability I have had for years, all without paying the premium that comes with app based systems.

I recently ordered these edison lights to replace nearly identical ones that I've had from the same company that have held strong with nightly use for at least 2 years. That set of lights didn't even conk out entirely- I'd just lost a few bulbs and it felt time to replace. All this to say that I already know about Brighttown's product's reliability and durability. The lights also look gorgeous with a soft warm glow (I usually use them dimmed at least 50%) and you'd never know they're not traditional glass. This set is a bit of an upgrade with the remote that comes with it. I'm sure that will be helpful for many, but don't see myself using it much since we set this up on a timer with a dimmer, so everything is operated automatically, or if i want to make adjustments, I use my phone, which is easier to me than a remote that I can use. But the remote is perfect for people who don't want to purchase an additional item, who don't love smart home technology, or who are just trying to spend les time on their phones. Come to think of it, it may even come in handy for my guests (we sometimes Airbnb our home) so they can adjust lighting without needing an app. A really nice bonus, and makes an already terrific product even better.
