  • Overall highly recommend!
First of all, overall, highly recommend for the price point and functionality. I received my Otofix D1 within 2-3 days of purchase. I read a large portion of the manily and was pleased with how clear and efficient the instructions were with navigating the scan tool itself. The Otofix D1 uses Autel software as it is a child of it. Very simple and easy to navigate if you are familiar with autel or not. I work for an independent shop and we specialize in Mercedes and Volvo. I immediately compared codes read on 2017 Mercedes Gl with Mercedes Xentry (we have Xentry at the shop) suv to what the Otofix D1 read and they were the exact codes and read every current and pending code that the Mercedes Xentry detected. I was thoroughly pleased with this as our shop Snap solus does not do this. I then had a few issues with a Volvo xc 90 2007 I believe. Washer pump issues. Hooked in the Otofix D1 and went into the CEM module active test portion and activated the front washer pump. By doing this i could inspect the washer system without needing another person and immediately found a chewed through washer line (bigger rodent problem-I know). A few golden nuggets- 1.) the auto VID function is fast and efficient. On older modules you will need to type in the vin manually hoever it will immediately detect the VIN automatically on newer modules- nice feature. 2.) There push butto on the Bluetooth VCI has a built in led light when pressed for locating the dlc- i found this to be a nice tough and tipped my hat to looking out for the tech. Overall highly recommend. Perform all of your updates overnight before initial use and update newer software each morning before use. This makes using your D1 more efficient. Thoroughly pleased and will purchase the d1 Bluetooth battery testing adapter next to connect with my D1 otofix for starting, charging, and battery testing next. ... show more

  • A nice scanner for a good price.
I received this scanner several days ago. I had to set up an account with Autel which was fairly easy though for some reason it would not take the password I initially tried to use. I finally got one to go through. I then did the updates for the scanner and VCI and that took about three hours to complete. I then played around with it on my 1998 Chevrolet K3500 truck for the next couple of days. I've had an intermittent fault code for a P0175 for a while now that never sets off the CEL. I had cleared this code out with another scanner I own several months ago and was curious if it had come back which it had. There were also two other codes which I had never seen before on this truck. A code C0222 and C0226. Both codes for no signal on both front wheel speed sensors. These codes were history codes and had not shown up on my Launch based scanner that I also own. I cleared both codes out with the scanner. I pulled up live data for the front wheel speed sensors and took the truck for a drive. Both sensors showed even mph with no drop outs and the codes have not come back. I then pulled up live data for both pre-cat O2 sensors, MAF sensor, STFT, and LTFT to see if I could figure out why the P0175 code was being set. All data for those PIDS appeared to be pretty normal and the scanner had said that the last driving cycle for the code had passed so it appears to be an intermittent problem. Overall, for the price, I am pretty impressed with this tool. It's easy to navigate through and has a lot of features and information. I like that you can access the internet through it so you can look up information such as on Alldata or google codes and symptoms. The size of the tool is nice and it seems well built. I have always wanted to try out an Autel based scanner and this is the perfect price point for that. I did install a 128gb micro SD card because after doing the updates, the built in 64gb hard drive was about 70% full already. The included apps seem to take up a lot of memory along with the data base for the vehicles. It comes with 2 years of free updates so the SD card will come in handy. ... show more

  • Crack the Codes
The Otofix D1 is money well spent. Solid product and easy to use. After the DEF error code came up, my Range Rover service said I needed to replace my DEF exhaust system for $10,000. I said Nah, going with Otofix to diagnose the problem and clear the code. All it needed was a good cleaning and fresh DEF. It also works on my other cars, no more service people giving me the runaround! ... show more

  • Great scanner but possibly a little too slow for some
I’ll just start off with saying this is a great little scanner for the price and is perfect for someone who is a diyer or is just starting out in the trade. A little on my background, I’m a fleet mechanic primarily working on heavy duty diesels, I occasionally help out with the light duty stuff, so I bought this because I hate waiting around for the laptops with the oem software. After using this for the past month (on mostly fords) I can say this little thing is great and packed full of features. The only downside is it is SLOW compared to other scanners I have used in the past, but this is also a fraction of the cost of those so you get what you pay for, if you are a flat rate technician looking at this I would recommend saving a little bit more money and buying something that is faster, anyone else I would wholeheartedly suggest giving this scanner a shot! Con’s in my opinion 1- the speed. 2- the case doesn’t look like it would protect it from a fall compared to the case that is on my launch x-431 HD. 3- there’s no kickstand on the back. 4- the VCI, I wish they would have put a spot on the bottom where you could put a keyring and lanyard on it so it would be easier to spot if you left it in a vehicle. 5- when viewing live data there is no search feature, so you have to scroll through every parameter until you reach what you are trying to find. Pros 1- the price, for under $500 this thing packs a punch 2- this size, unlike my launch scanner. This thing is tiny and in a small car or truck. It doesn’t feel like it’s getting in the way while working on stuff inside the cab. 3- the ability of the bi directional controls All in all this little thing is fantastic for most people and I would have given it 5 stars if the case would have a little more protection around the screen, while it is cheap for a scanner it still is a good chunk of money and in a shop or garage setting things can easily fall or get dropped and it would be nice to have added insurance on this kind of investment. ... show more

  • Small but powerful scanner and affordable price
If you are on the market for scanner, this is a review for you and I hope my review will help you to make the decision. I used this scanner as a professional technician at high volume shop over a week. It is a small scanner but can do 95% all functions compare to $2000 plus scanner. I used it to reset service for Porsche Panamera, Land Rover and it resets with no issue, resetting electronic parking brake for Honda too. The 2 cars it couldn’t reset were 23 BMW X5, 23 MB S580 can be software issue or vehicle too new which I can’t confirm but I will try again and I will update my review after I have a chance. It is rebrand from Autel because it asked my Autel account to sign in. It is slower than Autel Elite and Autel 906 Pro because our shop owns 2 of those, but it is acceptable when you pay 3-4 times less money. Memory is only 64gb and comes with 2 years updates is a plus. One of my friends suggested add a memory card to expand the memory which is I haven’t done it yet. In my opinion: Pros: light weight, affordable scanner, can do 95% of high end scanner can do, easy connector to internet, free update for 2 years, dongle has flash light built in (nice feature)… Cons: small memory, can be slow but these are understandable because you pay less than $600. Finally I love this scanner with money I paid, and I hope my review will help you to make the decision to purchase the right scanner for your need ... show more

  • Didn't last
I bough the otofix D1 scanner back in January of 2025. It arrived on time and was working good up to a few days ago. It suddenly turned off and won't turn back on. I've tried charging it and it would take some charge but gets heated and still won't turn on. The scanner has been well taken care off. Updated on time and only charged with it's charger. It also has been kept in its hard case. Please reach back to me with a solution. ... show more

  • UPDATED REVIEW! Decent scanner for the money!
So here’s an update of January 2024. The otofix has lost access to autoauth, and I don’t know if they plan to fix it. So I’m dropping my score down to 3 stars. I know I can get a bypass cable, but that’s extra work/steps. If otofix does work out an agreement with autoauth and it gets restored I will change my review/update this one. I mean it’s still a solid tool, but pulling/not having a functioning that I originally had with the tool kinda sucks lol. So I bought this basically to use outside of the shop, but I use it at the shop as well. We have an autel ms909 that we use. But this thing kicks ass for the price point, not to mention autoauth works flawlessly (used to unlock the sgw in 2018+ Fca vehicles) As you can see by the video I was able to do a blind spot calibration on a Subaru. And on an Audi I was about to calibrate the adaptive cruise control with it. Overall it’s packed with a lot of stuff, updated are 200 ish a year, after the 2 year free updates run out! Comes with a nice carring case! Now some of the things I didn’t like, it small, like smaller than you think it would be, and very thin. So I feel like you’d have to be careful with it. Bluetooth scanning is slow, so I use a usb cable from tool to the dongle(maybe in future updates it’ll get faster) No topology, which isn’t to big a deal but it’s nice to have! They give you a usb hub, with they would just give you a longer usb cable to connect the tablet to the dongle easier. Updates don’t seem to get released as quick as the autel. But in the end it’s a good solid tool, feauture Packed, and would be a good scan tool for someone starting out, or even the Diyer! Overall I’d rate it a 4.75 outta 5! ... show more

  • Big power in an easy to manage tool.
I finally got a chance to try this out. I wasn't sure what to expect at this price point, but this is a very capable scan tool. It has many of the same tests and data points as my way more expensive AUTEL scanner. This is the kind of "GO TO" tool that I've been needing. It will prove to be an asset in the shop. It's not always necessary to use all of the bells and whistles to perform complete diagnostics. The fact that this runs AUTEL software means that I'm already accustomed to the layout and use of this tool. It's very user friendly, fast and the functionality, so far, is quite impressive. I would definitely recommend this tool. I'll post an update once I've used this a while. ... show more
