This new version is the hard case model, which is exactly what I’ve been wanting. Highly recommend this item! The bag is simply amazing. It’s very spacious yet very compact which allows me to store many documents and items without taking too much space in my home.

I do not plan to light this thing on fire to test its ability to stand up to flames, but it's a decent document holder with lots of slots and holders for pens and pockets, and it has a decent capacity to hold what I wanted it to hold - passports, birth certificates, my husband's green card approval letter, our marriage license, our social security cards, the titles to our cars, our wills. My biggest issue is not in the chemical smell that it gives off - which I presume is a side effect of its fireproofing - it is that you cannot change the combination on the lock. Be aware, anyone with basic wirecutters is going to get into this thing easily by just cutting the chains on the zipper pulls. But the lock gives at least an impression of security, and would-be snoops cannot open the thing without damaging it. The combination is set at a stupid 3-digit combo (000) and cannot be changed, at least not in any way I could figure out. I tried holding in the latch button while I chose a new combo, no. I tried opening the lock and releasing the zippers, and then selecting the combo and pressing in the latch button, no. I finally did figure it out - there is a little divot in the lock casing where you must press with a small screwdriver or a ballpoint pen and reset the lock. Instructions would have been nice.

Good for carrying around items that need a bit of protection. Fire resistance passed just fine putting it on my gas stove. The material is also waterproof and abrasion resistant, although the zipper is not a waterproof zipper so you'll need to avoid submerging or directed streams of water. Also has lots of pockets and compartments inside to keep everything organized, although I wish the two divider components (one a set of accordion file folders and the other the main organizer with the card, pen, and usb pockets) were removable so you could get some extra space if you didn't need one or the other. The lock is good and avoids a couple of common vulnerabilities. Operates smoothly and avoids the vulnerability where you feel for the indent on the correct combo. Once you actuate the push button the dials no longer affect anything so there's no feedback even if you guess the correct combo while the button has pressure on it. The lock requires that it's on the correct combo to latch the zipper pulls which avoid another vulnerability where you shim the latches, but it also means you'll need to use caution when locking to avoid others seeing the combo. Fits up to a 15 inch laptop, although it lacks padding so you'll probably want a laptop sleeve as well if you're going to carry a laptop in this. But this will definitely help protect it from a range of other hazards. It's not really hard sided though. It's stiff enough to retain its shape but the sides are definitely still flexible. Not impact or bend resistant at all.

Wow, I was very happy to have found this fireproof file organizer! The case is STRONG, and I am confident whatever I hold in it will be protected from the elements (of any kind). I was super surprised when I held it for the first time - it is VERY lightweight, even though the assumption is that it would be extremely heavy! However, even though it doesn't weigh much, it is super heavy duty. That is what you want in an organizer like this, and this one does that perfectly. The zippers can "lock" with a nice combination lock... but that is just for simple travel. This lock won't stop anyone who really wants to get in it. However, it will stop the "accidental unzip" and thwart any casual thief. There was a distinct rubber smell when I first started using it, but I anticipate that will go away on its own in a few good days of use. Inside, there are plenty of pockets and places to hold your laptop, files, documents... you name it. The file organizer section is in yet another zipper-lined area, and that is a great touch! Trust me - you want this. If you were to open up the briefcase wrong (or too quick), papers could fall out. You don't want that happening to organized files... so the zipped pocket prevents that from happening entirely. Well done - this is an impressive briefcase. If you want the ultimate protection you won't go wrong here.
