  • Great Upgrade! Long but fun build! Great Upgrade! Long but fun build!
Style: DIY Kit
The kit took a while to build - probably around 25hrs including the time it took to back track and fix a few mistakes along the way. Plus I intentionally went slow and broke it up over a 3-day weekend (clear stopping points in the 9 chapter guide). It wasn’t hard at all, just lots of parts and steps. Actually very satisfying, especially if you like to “tinker”. Building it didn’t provide that sense of “Now I know how this thing works inside and out” that I expected … but only because it’s not really that mechanically complicated … the controller and software is where the real magic happens. But I do feel confident about making tweaks and mods here and there (deciding it was fine to remove a zip tie that kept touching one of the belts … and opting to remove the nylon rivets that hold the top down in order to get easier access to the top of the extruder to clear jams when needed). The CORE One is an upgrade for me from an easy to use Flash Forge Adventurer 3 Lite and a finicky Creality CR-10 S5. This thing is HEAVY but solid and the prints are amazingly good! Speed is unreal compared to my other printers! First print was great, no troubles, no major artifacts on the benchies. A few quirks to learn about but very happy and had fun building it! ... show more

  • A solid printer from Prusa.
Style: Assembled
This is a fantastic 3D Printer from Prusa, why you ask? Let me fill you in a little bit. I have been 3D Printing for 12+ years now and have gone through many printers, including the older Prusa bed slingers. With this new Core XY Machine, Prusa has essentially caught back up with a lot of the new printers going this route as they offer so many more choices in terms of printing capabilities and a wider range of usable filaments. The best part about Prusa's printers, is they they aren't locked down to online use as you can use it locally only if you wish, but the online option is there. They also utilize a lot more open source initiatives with their software and hardware. This system just works out of the box (though please go through the setup properly, heavy things getting slung around in shipping can loosen some stuff) and prints great. Plus, you can tweak and customize this printer a lot more than most of the new ones that are locked down behind walled gardens. I haven't had any issue printing with several different brands of filaments, and their slicer has a lot of profiles included which is helpful. This is also a very friendly beginner printer which is a plus! The only thing that might be a deal breaker for some, is that the new multicolor printing solution won't be out until early next year and will take some elbow grease to add it to a printer that you buy now. But trust me, good things to those who wait, as the new multicolor solution is shaping up to be amazing, and fast! Whichever way you go, good luck, but definitely give this printer a look, it's a solid and dependable workhorse that's easy to use and maintain. ... show more

  • Problems with unit and Prusa customer service
Style: Assembled
I bought the assembled version because I don’t have time to assemble another printer and didn’t want to deal with assembled-at-home issues. I wanted to love this printer. It prints twice as fast as the old MK3S with better VFA. Had lots of problems with layer shifts though. Threw out two full spools of filament from bad prints. Prusa customer service used to be awesome but now takes forever to get back to you. They couldn’t help me get it fixed within a month so I returned it. ... show more

  • Fantastic printer, great company, buy it for life
Style: DIY Kit
A great printer. I'm so glad I got this instead of the most popular brand or the many off-brands. Solid construction, great print quality and looks great. It works with anything I throw at it, and the built-in profiles have been mostly great. Not locked into the cloud like some other manufacturers, but still available for convenience. Great support and wonderful community. A fantastic company to support. Right to repair, and upgradable. Assembly was easy, but got monotonous. Was easy to tune and calibrate. I love that I know the system inside and out, and it isn't a mysterious disposable appliance. Only qualm is that the MMU3 (which I don't have) for multi-material printing is a bit expensive and cumbersome, but I do appreciate its conservation of filament. I'm going to wait out for the next material system. ... show more

  • Good, but some teething pains.
Style: Assembled
Some startup pain, but after that good-to-excellent results. Doesn't seem to be as fast on TPU as my old printer, but maybe I haven't dialed it in yet. Note that this is a CORE One, not a CORE One +, and the Plus upgrade is not free. Teething pains: * Some of the Z screws were too tight, causing the Z test to fail. * One of the set screws on one of the XY motors was loose and backed out enough to jam. Both fixed after some time on with very helpful support. TPU would be better with some guides around the feed gear to keep the filament more constrained. ... show more

  • Great first printer if you enjoy the build process
Style: DIY Kit
I have seen a lot of people say to skip the Core One kit and just buy the preassembled printer. If this were my second or third machine I might agree, but as my first printer I am really glad I built the kit. Putting it together forced me to learn how the machine is engineered, which parts do what and how I will service it later. It also gave me ideas for printable upgrades and I am already planning to build the community 5 color add on. I took my time, followed the Prusa manual, and used a YouTube build series as a visual supplement. At a relaxed pace the full build took a little over 10 hours. There were no missing parts, no rework, and everything fit correctly the first time. I kept the parts in their original boxes and only pulled what I needed for each step, which kept the process organized and stress free. You can absolutely build this on your own. Some assemblies are a bit heavy and awkward, but still manageable for one person. I would rate the difficulty as medium. If you just want to hit print and never think about what is going on inside the machine, buy the prebuilt version. But if you are even a little bit of a hobbyist and want to really understand your printer, the Core One kit is absolutely worth your time. ... show more

  • Simply the best 3d printer Simply the best 3d printer
Style: Assembled
Oh man this printer is amazing! Soo much better than the Ender5 I had a few years. Loading/unloading filament is easy. Sensor less homing is cool. And so is the ABL using the nozzle. The Prusa Core One is fast and very accurate. I've built and programmed printers for a long time. It's nice having something that actually works without any further modifications or flashing new firmware. The steel frame doesn't really weigh much more than other CoreXY machines with similar size. But it does add more rigidity than aluminum extrusion. The linear rails are quiet and smooth. There is a lot of vibration as it prints at max speed. So set this up on a heavy work bench or on a sturdy pallet under a desk. The only things that can be considered as a con would be the nozzle doesn't allow Mk.6 nozzles which I have a lot of. So I did have to buy the adapter. And the heat block is aluminum. It does the job, but not so much at higher temperatures for PC or other higher temp filaments. A nickel plated copper heat block should be the industry standard by now. They last longer, stronger, and provide stable temperatures for a much wider variety of filaments. Oh yeah, it comes with a free 1kg Prusament PLA Galaxy Black spool. ... show more

  • Part failure
Style: Assembled
I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The first PRUSA core I purchased the filament got stuck in the hot end and it could not be removed. The customer help was amazing and walked me through an extensive amount of steps to try and fix it but nothing worked. The second PRUSA core I purchased wouldn’t calibrate no matter how many times I did troubleshooting and followed all of the steps to fix the problem, it still failed on the Y-axis. The printing quality was great and the customer service is great. Maybe others have had better luck than me, but I can’t recommend it. I ended up purchasing a BAMBU lab H2D instead. ... show more
