    • Sleep mode issue. Update!!!
While I like the product, I find the sleep mode problematic. If your hard drive remains idle for 10 minutes, sleep mode activates to maintain the health of your drives. However, this causes your hard drives to disappear from the "My Computer" folder, forcing you to turn off the device. Occasionally, the drives reappear after 60 seconds, but not consistently. From my understanding, you can't turn off this feature. The workaround is to find software that checks your hard drive every minute or so. Currently, I use this for my Plex server. It works great if you are watching movies and TV shows all day. My settings is raid 1 on my TV Shows and Raid 1 for my movies. Update: You could ask Orico to give you the software to turn off sleep mode. It will rewrite the firmware to disable it! Now it's 5 stars. ... show more

    • Won't Recognize Any Drives
This is nothing more than an expensive paper-weight. It won't recognize or mount any drives, the driver page is in Chinese (which is great if you speak Chinese, but when you're selling your product in a predominantly-English speaking country...), and the support is non-existent. It also powers off after a few minutes, and there appears to be no way to get it to stay powered up. Contacted Amazon Support who provided the company's contact info and promised to help resolve the situation if the manufacturer wouldn't. Days later, with no response from the maker, I contacted Amazon again - only to be told the same thing, "Here is their contact info...let us know if the don't help." I recently purchased the ORICO 4 Bay External Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 to SATA with RAID Aluminum for 3.5 inches as a photographer and I'm really pleased with it so far. It is great for backing up my photos and video, as well as storing large amounts of data. The aluminum construction makes it quite durable and the USB 3.0 connection is fast and reliable. The only downside that I have noticed is that when it goes into sleep mode, I have to turn it off and then back on in order to access the HHD again. Other than that, I am very happy with this hard drive enclosure and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable external storage solution. ... show more

I am getting write i/o errors to my array. I have individually tested all drives, the ram,and the os drive that is servicing this. That means the raid controller is dying. Good thing I backup monthly to offline storage. Remember people RAID IS NOT A BACKUP I got two years out of it. I have harddrives that have lasted longer. Im just going to get a hard drive cage and sata wire up a bunch of drives to an SBC with a pci expansion board for sata. That should be much cheaper, with much greater function, and I wont have to look for another of the same raid controller if the sbc dies. I can just hook the array up to anything. If I didnt have a backup, I would have had to buy another one of these just to recover my data. ... show more

    • Massive storage
This is the second Orico product, may first being a 2 bay set up as a RAID. I have had no issues and the fact that its, fast, compact, and very quiet makes purchasing the 4 bay unit great.

    • Good at first, but hot garbage.
I will tell you the tooling on this enclosure is very nice. Worked great for about 2 weeks, then drives were disconnecting or showing errors. You can troubleshoot and get them going again, but it's just a matter of time before it happens again. If this was $50, it may be worth the headache, but it's not. Stay away. ... show more

La controladora de la caja apaga y suspender los discos así el equipo pierde conexión de estos toca apagar y prender de nuevo la caja para qie vuelva a funcionar además el mal soporte para actualizar firmware por el fabricante es asquerosa ya he mando 10 correo sin respuesta alguna
